surely if York court owe Wakefield £350k and that will save us from the events of 2 Feb then you would think we had a chance of getting it as its the Wakey fans that are campaigning for the Newmarket site to get the go ahead.

Unfortunately the days of simply judging whether a coach (at junior levels at least) is suitable is not just a matter of what they have delivered on the pitch. As I'm sure you will agree there's a good amount of the player development that's done away from the training ground & in more of a "classroom" setting. A degree in English may not be essential, but I would expect that being able to produce a presentation & present it well is as important for any coach as it would be for a teacher.

Interesting theory. I'd rather a coach be able to motivate his team and put together a gameplan so they perform at the best (and above in cases) of their ability than be able to faff around on Powerpoint to impress. |

I wasn't suggesting that an in depth knowledge of Powerpoint was a requirement - personally I think it's the most overused piece of software - but conveying a gameplan isn't just a matter of pointing at people in the dressing room or shouting from the touchline. If it was that simple we'd all be coaches of the teams we support. |
