Ultimately Wigan's defense beat us as we could get scores from all the pressure early on.
Better team won. Scoreline doesn't matter now.
Let's move on to beating Cas.'"
Wigan were the better team especially in the second half.
They seemed throughout the match to dominate the ruck, making easier yardage and moved it quicker playing with a faster tempo.

| Mago killed us for 20 minutes and we weren’t able to nullify him and his offloads, simply too big. We had a good thirty minutes but that’s the second time now. Onwards to Cas.

Weird. I thought the first forty minutes was the best the pack has been all season.

| Thought you were very good in the first half - got on the front foot with the 40/20s and didn't let us off the hook for a while. Lino is looking really good this year.
Some great counter attacks from some of our flair players helped us get in front and then when we scored early in the 2nd half that was pretty much it. A shame for the game that three of your best didn't make it - I'm sure they would have made a difference but impossible to tell how much.

Every game is important and it’s the only chance to progress to a final in a game at home against a top 3 team with significant Trinity support live on freeview TV…
Looked like about 5000 at game to me….'"
Would agree with that figure.Definitely more there than last week. We're not trying that old tax fiddle again are we? Leave that to Rishi and his Mrs.

I think it was over by halftime, we could not afford to look 3 scores up, yet go in a score down, that really showed at the start of the second half.
We threw the kitchen sink at Wigan with the players we had on the field, and they shut it all down, they numbered up right, got their one on ones and swept up all the kicks, outstanding defense tbf.
Dunno whether the players we had missing would have made that much difference, more times than not we needed to come away with something from the set starts we had in their half, Wigan did to us what they did to Salford, strangled the game with D.
Disappointed but no real complaints about the result.

They were injured, why would you pick injured players?! For a final maybe, take risks, but for a q/f, no. What if 2 of them aggravates something and are out for weeks? Wigan's pack, for most of them being so young, is immense. In a couple years they will be the dominant force in the game. A reality check maybe a cliché, but that's what it was, it shows how far we've come doesn't it we are so disappointed?! I'm really enjoying watching us play under Poching, we have got some seriously talented young kids at the club, and who knows how far we can go. It certainly will be a test though now to get over that so quickly with the Easter period coming up, but unlike the last couple of seasons, I can't wait for the matches to come around

Yeah, I said to me old man at half time I couldn’t see us playing as well as that first half again in the 2nd half whilst I always thought Wigan had a bit more in them!
Think there’s definitely a case to say missing players may have made a difference as Murphy scored one (superbly by the way) and but for fine margins could have had a hat trick…had that been Johnstone on the end he may have got a hat trick. Same with Big Dave…thought it was pretty even up front with Arona and Kelepi starting brilliantly but Wigan got a huge lift when Mago came on and he caused us all sorts of problems…maybe Dave could have done similar for us?
They look a top quality side do Wigan this year though and think they’ll give Saints a lot to think about…their defence first half was exceptional because we threw a hell of a lot at them behind a brilliant kicking game…

| we were ok up to halt time, but it's an 80 minute game and we simply couldn't live with Wigan in the second 40,
Despite us thinking our fitness levels are up this season (which they may well be!) we're a bit behind Wigan in that department I'm afraid. They were much quicker than us in all departments in the second half.
Another worrying thing is that for all the pressure in the first half we had little to show for it, although Wigan seemed much better in defence than we were.

| The first half was good for us.
But for really small margins we could have been 18-12 up.
When they got a quick try as the started second half the game just got away from us.
Ultimately Wigan defense win them the game for me.

If they are injured fair enough I didn’t read that anywhere but why put 3 injured players in your 21 for the game?
I thought we’d lose 32:14 with that 17 so don’t need a reality check.

Willie explained Tom was ready but pulled up this morning.
Dave was always a doubt butvthey wanted to give him a late fitness test.
Miller same.
Each had a good replacement to cover so why risk them.

| I'm thinking there was probably a fair old dollop of obfuscation chucked in there.
Wigan coach said it himself, a new challenge.
They'd a set of tactics for the most likely team to take the field, I expect they had to shuffle that a little quite late in the day.
All's fair in love and war an all that.

| Watching the game back ,we threw the kitchen sink at them the first half and they stood firm ,not enough questions asked in attack but with yet another half back partnership going into the game this was always going to be so . Can’t take anything away from Wigan ,and if any positives from the game ,it has give us a reality check as to where we need to be going forwards but it hasn’t cost us a league defeat to find that out . All that pressure on the Wigan’s line in the first quarter and nothing for it set the scene early doors for me , they simply absorbed everything we threw at them and countered superbly .I think we simply run out of energy in the second half with the amount of defence in the first and had no answer to their strike players who took their chances brilliantly.
