| Mackie is taking the now. First it's 'let me build some warehouses on this land then i'll build you a stadium'. Now it's 'I've got my warehouses, I want to build some houses now...then you might get your stadium'. Absolute joker.
Won't be any land left to build a stadium on once we meet this elusive 'trigger point'.

How is Box going to find a new developer when Yorkcourt own the land or have options on land at Newmarket unless he has another site in mind. Maybe he has listened to a suggestion from the Trust but doubt it.'"
So what can the council actually do now to try and force the developers hand? Nothing?

Yep thats about the some total of it. Unless Yorkcourt can be proved to have broken the law, and technically they probably haven't despite being morally destitute, then there is not much the council can do. Mackie won't give up the land, it's to valuable and is likely to be mortgaged up to the hilt. And as for turning down planning permissions they can't do that without viable reasons otherwise they will end up in court. The original PP is still in effect so whether Newcold is included or not they have square metres to play with and have cart blanch to sit on the land as long as they like. The permission has no time constraints whatsoever so they will play the long game.
Box coming out and slamming Yorkcourt is good in one respect but ultimately he knows it can't and win't make a blind bit of difference. They can be threats and injunctions both ways but all this does is chew up time, the one thing we don't have. Sadly i see no possible positive outcome in this at all.

They could try and use a CPO and then sell it to another developer, but that would take years and they might lose in court as Manchester Council found out a couple of years ago (after ringing up over £1m in legal fees)
I am interested in why only a couple of days ago Box was talking about a positive announcement. It seems that by the Trust releasing the proposed HoT for the public to see, forced Box into a corner and admitting it was a not for for purpose otherwise he would have carried on talking things up shielded by the secrecy that has been in place for the last 7 years.

Sandal please explain how do Yorkcourt own that land,Have they bought it off the council and then rented it to Newcold to build that large Coldstore thus they're already making money out of Newcold,
Plus I think it was Vasty you mention it a while ago about the council putting the money up front for the Proper Trust to build a new Stadium at a bit at a time and pay them back over the years at a fixed rate.
And if we could get something out of Yorkcourt be it my threatening legal action against them would that help, Also have the Community Trust got a trust account for anybody to Donate into.

| One thing Box can do is to tell Walker to shove it, It may not get us a stadium but we have a far better chance of getting one if his greedy snout is out of the way for good!!!!
The guy has no mandate and no authority, Box is quite entitled to refuse to have him involved.

The Newmarket site was the former Newmarket Silkstone Colliery which was leased to British Coal but the owners who I believe was Oulton Estates. Yorkcourt bought the site from Oulton Estates. The Stadium land is owned by the local farmer and Yorkcourt have an option to purchase it. The Newcold site was sold by Yorkcourt to Newcold.
We will if we have to go legal be seeking donations through a crowd funding web site so people can donate online but I'm sure we will at the appropriate time take donations direct into the Trusts account.

| I think this is positive new stuff and box is finally seeing that he needs to go with public view, also I'm not sure yorkcourt actually do own the land, only that they have permission to develop the land.
The land was re-classified out of green belt but I'm not sure it was purchased by or handed over to Yorkcourt.
[edit]
Seen the above now so my understanding appears to be incorrect

That isn't going to happen, too much of a risk involved in a sport that relies on sky money to pay the bills by not getting relegated. Remember Leeds have the cricket as well and the lucrative international matches they have there. If it was just the rugby alone the council wouldn't have touched it with a barge pole.
Also MC would be ultimately chasing Yorkcourt for the money to pay it back. We've seen how likely that is to happen.

| At least Box has said the right thing, which has surprised me.
I remember seeing a quote from him earlier in the year talking about the proposed development near Heath Common, near the new road, and I thought I spotted a subtext about the ground being on there.

Under MC's proposal it would be the council chasing York Court not the club. We would just be paying the interest on the loan

| I am not up to the legal aspect of things like this, however can someone in the know answer this. As part of the deal with taking this land out of greenbelt, was the stadium build, is it possible to put this land back into green belt so it is worthless to Yorkcourt?
