As much as we can moralise about players, I'm sure that not every member of staff who has worked at the club, or volunteers even, have been squeaky clean…they would tarnish this 'family club' nonsense as well.

Ah, but let's turn our attentions to the people who work at the WE as well! I bet you could find a few dodgy moments in their pasts as well - if you dig deep enough!

If the guy has done what has been reported, then he will be dealt with. From what I hear, there is good reason as to why he hasn't been charged as yet, but that is for the authorities to decide. However, if you turn over enough employees, then you are bound to get some with 'history', recent or otherwise.

The paper obviously feels the need to 'judge' the club through this action and that is their perogative. My perogative is to decide whether to support / buy the paper and also whether to campaign to get others also not to buy it!

Equally I'm not sure that all employees of any company are 100% squeaky clean.

Bet they don't publish a headline that says "Wakefield Express employee arrested for drunk and disorderly in town centre" if that ever happens.

Let's not get hoodwinked by the WE or their current editor, this is not about some moral crusade to secure justice for the young girl who's been assaulted nor is it about offering fair and balanced reporting of positive and negative news. This is about splashing sensationalist news with emotive headlines and shocking images on the front page in an attempt to sell as many papers off the back of it as they can.

They've done so without a single thought of the potential damage done to Wakefield Trinity in a week when they could have done a great deal to repair some of the damage they've done to their relationship with the club.

They've possibly prejudiced the case against the player but they have certainly made his position at the club almost untenable.
If proven guilty he'll get what he deserves and should suffer the full gambit of consequences for his actions there's no doubt about that.

This latest attempt by the editor to justify what they've printed is a little bit sickening IMO! He's got it wrong on all counts this week and in doing so he's revealed his true colours!

This particular headline is the latest news story in a long list of stories that seem to be anti-Wakefield Trinity. Many people have questioned the WE and their anti WT stance for a number of years and this story removes any doubt about their position on where they pitch their level of support or lack of it for the club!

Set in that context it's clear that someone at the helm of the WE is either anti WT or anti RL at their core, the anti stance seems to have coincided with a lean toward Leeds Utd which suggests I'm right on this. This also seems to have happened at the same time that the WE has largely been moved out of the City, I would not be surprised to find out that these decisions are being made by people with zero affinity to the City of Wakefield.

Whatever the reasons this (cough) newspaper no longer reflects the mood of the city and merely runs stories that seem to come from the 'idiots Guide to publishing local news stories'.

I hav'nt bought this paper now for a few years but do read it at my mothers house so my not buying it is no loss them but I suspect there will be a sharp fall in revenue across the board and that might force a change of positioning and personell.

I think a letter to the Press Complaints Commision about the insensitive use of graphic images and the implications of guilt prejudicing a fair trial in what is after all a local paper is in order.

Waste of time. The PCC will only deal with complaints from those directly involved in the story, that and they 'self regulating' so would side with the rag anyway.

Yes i agree if that had been my daughter then i would want justice but i would not plaster her mashed face all over the press. Very distasteful.

Well all we can hope is that she is ok, that the person who did that is brought to justice and that the news article does not adversely affect the reputation of Wakefield Trinity Widcats which in all honesty I cannot see many,if any, not attending on the back of it. As they say todays news is tomorrows fish and chip paper, and yes when my son was beaten up by a gang it did not feature on the front of the paper , just as well as it meant none of his grandparents found out

that poor young lad that was subject to the missing persons investigation was laid to rest surly the fact that over 22'000 joined a group to find him shows which story demanded the headlines of Wakefield

i think it is a disgrace that our local paper, the one who should help us out (if you know what i mean), runs such a negative story. witht he exception of this story (which i was fully aware of), i have heard nothing but good news coming out of the club (and as mentioned on previous threads i cannot believe it!!)

there is so much good news from the club at the moment, they could nearly fill the newspaper.

and as for previous comments on here and elsewhere - i worked for the newspaper for over 10 years (part time) and i can assure you that there are plenty of "skeletons in the closet" in regards to to Johnson Group (wakefield express owners) employees.

If they actually printed up to date news that would be something.
