| Quote: The Clan "Honestly!
This thread is just ridiculous, John Kear is as safe as McGuire at Wigan, Smith at Warrington, Brown at Hudds etc...
To even contemplate the subject, let alone start a discussion about it, is just poor in the extreme!
John Kear has been great for the club, leaving aside the Million pound survival match, he has brought us a measure of success on a pityfull budget, he's overseen the revamp and medernisation of our backroom proceedures, he's improved our youth policy's and systems and so on..
When JK decides he's had enough of being a coach, I fully expect him to move upstairs where he can continue to steer the football side of the business in the same professional and dignifed manner that has become his trademark.'"
Spot on mate, from what I've seen this loss of form is down to the players and the lack of doing the basics correctly, you could excuse a lack of form due to Brough and a few players coming in and out,but you cannot excuse the lack of fight, drive and enthusiasm of Pro Rugby League players.
With the odd exception they don't seem to be able to tackle, run hard with the ball, back the ball runner up,kick chase, kick full stop all the basics never mind dummy runners actually looking like they are going to take the ball as well as attacking moves.
The one big thing I've noticed is with the odd exception our imports have been very poor.In my mind the idea of imports is they should be some of the better players in a side and we just haven't seen that.

| We would be in serious trouble/free fall if Kear left.
I honestly do not think anyone could do a job better than him at Wakey on the resources available. He has to be one of the best for getting more out of regular players/journeymen/career back enders than Ive ever seen

Their chairman describes him as 'the best young English coach' or somesuch. Which is utter rubbish. He doesn't come across on telly as someone who could motivate anyone to do anything!

| Cant believe that anyone would seriouslt start a thread criticising John Kear, when he came we were 90 minutes from relegation, ever since we had been in super league we were the whipping dog, finishing second to bottom or escaping relegation on last day of season.
Since he came we have become a credible superleague team, we have even made the play offs twice and up until the departure of 4 of our best players looked certain to do so again.
What is he actually supposed to have done - on sunday he reverted to a basic simple game plan, hit the ball up and kick for distance on the 5th, when they had the ball tackle them.
The fact that the players did not actually do this is hardly john kears fault.
This thread should have been locked and taken off a long time ago!!!

| In my opinion, John Kear is the best signing Wakefield Trinity have made in the last 10 years, he has kept us in superleague, has coached the team to beat some of the top sides (although Huddersfield seem to be our bogey side !!), he not only gets the best out of some average players and to be honest , one or two who would not make it near other superleague teams.
We must remember, John has not got the player budget of some teams and does well with what we have.
I know it is frustrating when we lose, and more upsetting when we put in a poor performance, it was disapointing last Sunday, I believe Brian Noble had done his homework and did a 'job' on us, lets be fair, Crusaders arte no mugs, we didnt have the right to beat them easily etc, they came and tackled well, in the second half they were quick to get up to us and it was difficult, having said that, we made a lot of errors which ultimately cost us the game.
Lets get behind John and the team, hopefully he will make a couple of changes and we move on, we need John at the club, not just as coach but as ambassador too, he has a great voice in rugby league, has a high profile and has respect, lets keep him for the clubs sake.

Would be interesting to see what sort of team some of the 'top coaches' could put together with the finances available to JK.

| JK is the best thing to happen to Trin in a long while. But some of his selections and tactical stuff can be baffling on occasion. The dropping of Gledhill to the academy was one of those head scratching decisions IMO. Millard to fullback when Murph was on the field against Celtic was another.
