| If we're up against an NRL club then I think we'll struggle to sign him. Maybe only the security of a good 3 year deal against possibly a 1 year deal with Newcastle will do it but I thought we couldn't offer anyone a contract as we haven't got Southern or John off quota yet? One of them must have been paid off. Hope we're also not overstretching ourselves financially and I'd have thought we'd get someone like Manuafakoa cheaper on a 3 year deal from Bradford than Poore over from Aus?
Also sounds maybe like we may be being used as a contract lever for Poore with Newcastle '... (from his agent) 'We're just talking to Newcastle and waiting for some final details and we've got to hear back from (Super League club) Wakefield tonight," Poore's manager Chris Haddad told AAP on Monday.
Either way it'll increase Wakefield's profile down under & back here in SL, going for this calibre of player which is really what is needed if we're going to move up into a top 6 SL side next season.
Poore is the right quality prop who will add more punch to the Wakefield pack if he can stay fit and he is only 27 years old.
Proud of Wakefield for their ambition & being up there negotiating for quality players against the NRL big boys even if we don't get him!

| It's nice to be in the mix, but I can't imagine what we could offer him that would trump an offer from the NRL.
I guess this is why RA is looking at 3 options.

| Poore would be a tremendous signing for us
Exactly the big enforcer style prop we need
As others have said, I can't see it happeningbut certainly shows we mean business in attempting to sign a player of that quality

| Il be honest, I know very little abou Poore.
But if he is a good standard Prop who an NRL club are courting for his ability then these are the exact signings we need to be making to move to that next level. At the same token I hope we don't offer silly money.
Manukafoa, is he an option for us. Other than here I haven't heard wakey are in for him.

| All gone quiet on kirke too.
Not a prop but if Murphy is out of favour at hudds and mathers deal cant be sorted I'd be happy to see murph back to fill the full back role.

| The problem with Kirke is that he has started playing well and is getting game time in big games.
Earlier this season the Leeds fans would have given him to us with a payment as well.
Would still like him at WTW

We should be looking at both the above props who are real NRL quality, out of contract and looking for a long term deal. Wakefield would then have real strength in depth at front row. If we've not approached Manuokafoa then we've missed a trick as he has still not signed for Bradford who appear not to be offering many contracts out to their senior players and they don't have the spending power anymore & will be playing on a lot lower budget I would have thought with the problems they've had.

I was told on 26th December 1981, when the infant Kirke arrived kicking and screaming into this world, that one day, he would sign for Wakefield.
In terms of things going quiet - I expect if there was to be an announcement, it was always going to be after the GF.
