| Quote underground="underground"That.....
was the biggest dummy spit I have ever seen....
I can only imagine the red face... tears and jumping up and down that accompanied the typing fron Falmouth (which are very nice places... Cornwall and MA!).
I hope that the objectors will come to the table to help manipulate the development to their benefit (for as has already been said... development WILL happen either now or in 5 -10 years... a well planned and environmentaly/ community friendly one now is better than a forced mess in the future)... rather than sit in the corner and cry!'"
It would appear to be an alias of a Castleford supporter who lives in Outwood (a village north of Wakefield on the way to Leeds) or if not just a resident venting their anger at the inevitable.
The objectors are pinning their hopes on Leeds City Council (as most of them live in Leeds, which as you know is another City entirely) somehow being able to force this to a public inquiry (they have no such power, they can only ask the people who do have the power nicely) and even then they think that given the current Coalition Governments cuts putting millions out of work over the next five years they are going to agree to spend circa a £1 and lose the opportunity of 2500 + private sector jobs... but we are the stupid ones apparently!

| A poster on the Cas board claimed that any PI is funded by the local government not by the central government, is this true to the best of your knowledge AI?
Bit tired to do the wider reading- it is half term after all.

Central government are the ones that direct the call in if they think it required and then hand it over to the The Planning Inspectorate to run the inquiry. I would think that the bulk of the cost comes out of the annual budgeted running costs for the The Planning Inspectorate, I suspect a LA will have to find rooms and a suitable venue to hold the inquiry (County Hall) and of course pay for the work it will do to support the upholding of their original minded to approve decision. Either way, they are not cheap!
Don't also forget that public inquiries take a lot of work, especially from the objectors point of view. I am not sure they have it in them to be honest, even with LCC doing their bit!

| The reason Leeds councillors don't want the development to go ahead will most likely be because they have plans for their own industrial estate on the north side of J30 - they won't want Wakefield getting the prime customers first.

Got it in a nutshell! This is a council that have developed on green belt before, the environment didn't seem to bother them then!

| I have just come across the 'appeals list' on the The Planning Inspectorate site and in the three months to end of the year they are only three called in applications to be heard at PI's!!!! They used to call in about 50 a year, so that suggests to me that the current government have probably only called in a small hand-full since they came to office.

Which makes it more likely IMO that the most controversial ones will be called-in. Whilst I don't agree with it, IMO the only way to settle this argument fairly is to hold an independent inquiry and Wakey fans can argue back but this has nothing to do with what's in the development (we all now the potential benefits - potential being the key word as it is by no means guaranteed), more to do with location and what it's situated on (greenbelt).

Saw that but also found this: communities.gov.uk/planningandbu ... in-search/
Which shows 47 have been called-in/recovered. No idea if that's the ones that have been decided on this year.

Here he is yet again picking out the negatives of the Newmarket development. Anyone comes on the Cas board and says something less than supportive of GH you call them a troll! Hypocrisy or what! Keep them straws in your clutches old boy!

What a load of crock, what's to settle the council unanimously voted for it. The councillors that have been democratically elected. Everything been evaluated it's called democracy it's how it works. Don't kid us by telling us you give a hoot about a bit of green belt on the edge of an old pit site. The real problem is that Glasshoughton has hit the rocks and the only chance Dickie has of getting some breathing space is if we fail. No surprise the latest delay will take Cas until after the SOS decision.

Congratulations for clearly not reading my post. Is that going to be your statutory response to anybody who dares reply to any thread about this subject? That was my objective and impartial view and has no allegiance whatsoever to any of the parties involved (or Cas).
That judgement is based solely on the decision and also the above document. If you actually bothered to read my post I said: a) That I don't agree with it - i.e. it shouldn't be called in; b) We all know the potential benefits of this proposal; and c) The fact that it won't get called in for the development itself, more location and the fact it's on greenbelt.
Would you not agree with those three fundamental points? For instance, do you think if this development was on brownbelt land that anybody would give a flying cluck-a-duck? Get off your bloody high pedestal and open your eyes for a change!
