| Must admit, saw the Arona tackle on Swift and didnt seem much in it.
Did Swifts foot 'lock' into the turf when the tackle was made?

Absolutely appalling decision by the panel. I feel sorry for Swift getting injured badly but there was nothing in that tackle to warrant a ban of any sort.
Can we and should we appeal?

| Yes, I think we should really, but bearing mind who we are would we get anywhere.
To me, it is the same argument, as with the Shenton tackle. Had Swift have not been injured, would anyone have picked anything up.
I think on the Hull KR facebook page, they had a petition on there regarding Boudebza, and his punishment

| Same here can,t see what he has done to deserve this. I we carry on like this I can see a situation where leg tackling will be forced out of our game

It's unusual for one of our players to tackle an opposition player by the legs in the first place!
Typical.

| The Walton one could have gone either way, but I've seen worse let go. The Arona one is seriously baffling though - It's a one on one tackle round the waist, and Swift had his leg unfortunately placed underneath Arona's body as he was falling to the ground. Not like it was a late attack to the legs or a third man in, pretty ridiculous!

SUMMARY OF CM'S SUBMISSIONS ON THE APPROPRIATE SANCTION
Accepted this was not a deliberate act to injure opponent. The opponent breaks tackle, [sizethe player make tackle with both feet off the ground in a jumping motion[/size. At this point the player is not in control of his own body weight. This technique has an unacceptable risk of injury. This was a careless action and almost reckless, the player has responsibility for the safety of the tackled player and must be held accountable. On this occasion the player failed to reach the standard of care required.

Well, I've watched it loads of times now and I just don't see this at all. Anybody else?

| I have got to say this is a ridiculous ruling and even the disciplinary panals own reasoning makes no sense whatsoever. If we are to take the panels reasoning and apply it to all defensive techniques we'd have to recoach every player about how to make certain types of tackle, eg tackling from behind.

| So any tackle that players have to stretch or dive into (like when chasing back) is a potential ban?
So next time Johnstone makes a break I don't expect any player to make a last ditch tackle unless they know they will have full control of body weight. I demand a ban.
What a load of balls. If that were the case there'd be 5 sin bins or sending offs a game.
Dissapointing, if a player is half breaking a tackle and you can get to him at a stretch or with a dive don't bother. Just let them stride through the line or you'll get banned. This is a big cop out

Or have their feet off the ground!
It looks to me that they couldn't really find a particular rule to justify a ban.
Just watched it again and I just don't see anything malicious or illegal.
They've got it in for us I tell ya.

| I suspect that they are trying to mitigate the unusually high numbers of injuries that SL is experiencing at the moment by punishing tackles that cause injury, rather than that are dangerous.
If it's the case then 10/10 for trying to address the issue, but 0/10 for execution.

| It's insane to use the injury as a basis for punishment - RL is a high-impact, high-speed collision sport, so there is always the possibility for a freak injury to occur; as we've seen in the opening rounds this year. Arona's tackle was the definition of innocuous - if there's no injury, there's no way the ref even considers blowing up for that, nor do the match review panel give it a second thought.
If there is an attempt to deal with dangerous contact, there are better places to concentrate - 4 man gang tackles and attacks to the standing leg would be a good start.
