| I thought the comment from the fat bald one on Sky after the game was interesting. Clarke and Eddie were both saying Agar should be a contender, Stevo just outright disagreed, saying the Coach of the Year should only go to those at the top of the table. I bet anyone could coach Wigan at the moment and they would still win the majority of the games!!!

Although I like the idea of Agar winning or at least being considered I unedrstand where Stevo is coming from.
It's been proved before that a good team with a bad coach will start losing things. A good team takes you so far but Wigan wouldn't be top if they had Millward as an example.

| Surely the coach of the year is the one who has achieved more than was expected at the start of the year. Everyone expected Wigan to be contenders for the title with/without Maguie/Wane. Not many, apart from some of us on here, expected a newly created squad, with a new although highly criticised coach sacked from another club, plus a budget a fair way under the salary cap (unlike Bradford/Wigan/Warrington etc) to be in contention for play offs.
As someone posted above, many expect Wigan to contend irrespective of who coached them. What they developed under Maguire is not going to be lost in a few months and see them plummet down the league. I think fair dues to Agar. I wasn't one who jumped through hoops of joy when we announced him a year ago. However, he has quietly gone about his business and developed the current form team of the league, far exceeding manys expectations.
The praise of Potter, I think on balance, has been more out of sympathy for their plight. They have a full cap squad and are battling to try to get into the eight (albeit with a 6 point deduction).
Richard Agar, I applaud your achievement this year

| Having seen what Guilfoyle has coined in during the period Potter has been working for the voluntary sector, anyone voting for Potter for anything other than mug of the year is missing in the marble department!!
