| And neither will Wakefield Trinty Tigers - there's just too much opposition from both sets of fans. Like a stadium share - no general consensus can be reached imo

| Quote: kinleycat "Whilst being pessamistic, you are also being realistic.
The economy of our game is based on sky money alone, if a product sells boxes it's all good, I believe that is why London are still in SL and why the RFL has to keep bailing them out, any other club would be hung to dry.
More diversity is needed in SL to promote the game, but the funds are finite, sooner or later another French side, a Scottish and Irish side, Cumbria needs one and the midlands, 2 geographically apointed sides it doesn't make sense, when your in London paying the bills.
The RFL may carry the flag of expansionism, but they are marching to the beat of sky's drum.'"
Although i understand where you are coming from,i cant imagine that having a team in London has made that many people go out and buy Sky.To the same extent if you put a team in Scotland or Ireland,i cant see that suddenly people that have never followed league would spend money subscribing to Sky just to watch a Scottish/Irish team

| I simply do not understand why we don't create a multi-million pound community stadium in Wakefield that can be shared by Wakey & Cas.
Run the risk of no stadium each and no SL license or bite the pride bullet and share.
No brainer for me.
If major football teams can do it I am sure we can.

There is already one such facility going through planning permission as we speak.

Exactly if the milan giants and lazio and roma can share why can't we lol?
I would sooner this than have a merged team. Newmarket is like half
and half distance TBF a nice 15,000 stadium would do it for us both.As Cas can't afford the ground we can but struggling with land it makes sense now. I have warmed to the idea.

Football clubs such as the Milan, Turin & Rome clubs are all big enough to operate out of a joint stadium to continue their existence as a sole entity, as are Liverpool and Everton if they ever shared a stadium. They are all huge football clubs. Added to this there is no outside pressure being applied to them into meeting a set of criteria at the expense of each other. The Italian FA are not attempting to artificially expand their game in order to boost the player pool. The RFL are. To compare the two sports is pointless.

| Wakefield Metropolitan District will have ONE SL quality stadium and it will be located in Stanley. Wakefield Trinity Wildacts will play there and Castleford Tigers could choose to do so if they so wished.
If down the line both clubs would merge, then so what !
Both sets of supporters must be fed up with watching their respective teams struggle and the mighty Rhino's lording it over us.
A merged club would be still playing in Wakey, it will be called wakefield and it would be a lot better than what is around presently. The old farts may scoff but the next generation will turn up and watch it if its a good team. There are too many people already who live in wakefield and prefer to watch the Rhino's.If people are prepared to do that they would also be prepared to go to Stanley instead and watch a good team up there.

PB,you state that with an air of confidence,is it that you believe it to be factual or your opinion?

It is obviously an opinion as it is just conjecture at this time. That said, his points are all valid, and it may not happen over night, but a successful team would bring in the fans!

yes you see we got brought up on a different kind of rugby so to me the thought of merging with cas is gut wrenching , however my 2 lads would probably just strug it off and want to SL/RL where ever . the kids are the future and they will decide. how long ago did eagles merge ? we are now seeing a steady rise at the goatfarm. as for cas still think they will survive as a separate entity as well as a merged club.
if it was to happen i dont buy into the 3 years down the line change back to being WTW and assuming our old ID , if we ever merge then Trinity should be consigned to the history books and a new chapter begin unlike Huddersfield who count the merged years in their history as when it suits when in reality a baby club as the old Huddersfield of fartown is no more.
