Some great ideas on here and we need to keep them coming. I think we need to look at both long and short term funding streams...

Members paying additional sums for various long term benefits and even a WTW firework display/gala etc would all bring in quick sums of money and if was all advertised correctly I think the Wakefield public in general would support it.

Would the wider community assist more if we had a campaign/slogan? That these events could fall under so people new what they were parting with their money for e.g. my old auntie has said she would like to contribute (she had no idea of the clubs troubles)but because of my uncles passion for the club would hate to see it all go down the pan.

Quote: the1 "You guys have all missed the point. Not just missed it, but you are miles off. Now say I’m trolling or whatever you want, but I’m going to tell you the number one fact regarding WTW problems.

PEOPLE DON’T CARE!

This is the sad fact of the matter.

First point, lets look at the average forum age. If its less than 30 I would be surprised. doesn’t sound like a big deal, but considering internet usage is highest for the young it does lead a major question. Where are the young supporters? Now considering the general age, I would suggest you ask your kids how much the pupils in their school talk about Rugby League, in general, not just among their (hopefully) rugby playing self’s and friends. A lot of talk about football, but rugby? Hardly any. I have been there I know.

Look at the city of Wakefield in general how often do you walk past the club shop and its empty? Do you often see people wearing Wakefield tops? If you answer yes, ask yourself, for a city of 70,000 with a district of 300,000, is that enough?

The Super League cup was in Sainsbury’s the other day. Everyone kept shopping. They kept on advertising, but people didn’t react. If it was a football related cup do you thing it would be so quiet?

All your points are valid, and if circumstances were different probably correct. But you are missing or hiding from the major problem. The fan base is shrinking, (don’t quote the ’new improved’ crowd numbers anyone who knows anything knows they mean little) and until you build a sense of pride, ownership, a real connection to a part of our fading culture, our history. People still will not care. Its just that rugby club to most people in Wakefield nowadays. Until more people are interested these ideas will not solve the problem, the coal has gone, its time to look abroad.

Compare Wakefield to the Green Bay Packers, many similarities, but the passion of one teams fans, the renewable of these fans is the difference.

Don’t get me wrong, its not only Wakefield’s problem its nation wide, but we must deal with it if we are to survive. That is the bottom line interest new fans, raise new capital from them or Wakefield will no longer exist.

Our existing fan base is not a infinite resource I know people who struggle to pay food bills, they might be loyal to Wakefield, but spending more money is totally out of the question. You cannot expect existing fans to pay much more than they have.

Also, on a side note, you guys really need to stop bashing the people who try to help, the people who do and have stood up and sank their money into the club. I remember a very, very wealthy man showing me a thread on here, and declaring he did not want that to happen to him.

/rant over.

P.S I have not and will not proof read this.'"

You have a very valid point...However this does not help the club in this season or the next and our average gates last season (not including the counterfeit tickets) would indicate we should be capable of assisting the club...Especially in the off season, not too sure about the rest of you but I don't watch football so feel like my arms have been cut off (Metaphorically Speaking).

However the youth of wakefield needs to be engaged more in the sport. WTW could assist in setting up/getting more schools involved in the school leagues.

We do need to focus on the immediate, short term and long term but in that order; I think!!

How about we use our partnership with Doncaster which we've helped them out with players/ community / growth etc......

Get the use of the stadium for nowt (if possible) get the cribs playing a gig their, and sell the bugger out.

Very very out their idea not sure its remotely possible, but might as well get it out in the open.

Far fetched i know..

Get on the phone to the Sheffield directors and offer them the use of Belle Vue for next season. We could have double headers Sheffield on first, Trinity on second.

That would make Sheffield v Fev a Derby game - I'm in!

Hi Everyone,

I haven't had much time to read all your posts regarding Club 1873, but some of you have been talking about an idea such as giving away limited edition prints for people who join Club 1873.

There was going to be an announcement Monday night at the Fans Forum but following what I've read on here I thought it made sense to bring it forward asap.

I've looked at ways of making Club 1873 more accessible to join and one of the ideas I used at Blackpool and Stockport County was to create a secure website for supporters to join online. Up till now we've only had a PDF on the main club website which you first have to download, then print off, then fill out and finally hand in to the club. This process was long and time consuming. From tomorrow, you will physically be able to sit at home on your laptop, tablet, PC or even your phone and join Club 1873.

What's more, following Sundays last minute triumph over Castleford, we're going to be giving away 50 signed prints of Liam Kay's second try to the first 50 supporters who join online through this website.

Following on from another idea you've also mentioned which is also in the pipeline is regarding businesses and them joining Club 1873. Very shortly businesses will be able to join Club 1873 for only £10 a month and this will entitle them to a whole host of benefits. More on this will be revealed in the coming weeks though.

As I'm sure you'll now agree, Club 1873 is going through some exciting changes. The future of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Youth Development Programme is looking brighter than ever.

See you Monday night!

As someone else mentioned, flog all the old kt on eBay. People will buy it. Flog any match programmes laying around on there.

How many times have "money can't buy" items/experiences been mentioned on here and never acted on by those within the club who we know read these forums? At least, with those, people are getting something back for their cash.

Assuming a new kit will be in place for next season - how about ebaying the actual playing shirts from Sundays game??

Get the player to sign it and flog it off - I'm sure those of players who are leaving and Ali's and Liam Kay's would generate a bit of interest.

Obvious one that I'd forgotten about but was mentioned previously... Foxy bingo night at the ground (do they still have the computer suite?) club pays our £10 sign up, we get £20 credit, club gets £50 (is it still that much) cash, how many sign ups would we need to sign Kay?

Any tiny hope of Steve Parkin being the saviour through his connection with Steve Kittrick may have just evaporated. Reports SK's just been sacked as Guiseley manager by him.
