| Quote: BIGAL1 "The other issue is loyalty and its value from the junior up and coming players at this club, if you see players leave in this case AM and AG you will discount the loyalty bit from day one.
The big push to fund young local players and help keep them at the club looks a touch watery and before anyone says it i fully understand you can't keep them all but imo the loss of these two is deeper than two players.'"
I don't disagree with you at all. You know my opinion on the new regime, I can't see the difference and this is a perfect example. However I suppose we have to accept that Agar at least has no debt to Murphy - he would argue that he has a team to build and that this deal suits his plans. He would also argue that Murphy is hardly being chucked on the scrap heap and that the club has given him the chance to cement his reputation. So in this respect I find Agar at least innocent and understand his reasoning and actually think in pure playing terms he may have it right.
However it sends out all the wrong messages and makes us look like a feeder club for the rich - just like w did under Ted. So when the next Ellis or Wright pop up and won't stay for all the money in the world and Elston and AG come bleating to us for more cash blah blah they will receive a two fingered gesture.
The regime is dead, long live the new regime - it's a far cry from the euphoric winds of change many were hoping for a few short month back.

| Quote: GET EM ON SIDE REF "Raleigh would do a good job for us get Huddersfield to trow Crabtree and Mason in and we have a deal
I'm a bit sick of other teams apparently being in the driving seat when they poach our better players.
What we don't want under any circumstances are players reluctantly coming to Wakefield. If you asked the players suggested if they want to come to Wakefield I bet they would say no, so what's the point?
I would only be interested in Raleigh in any event. Kirmond and Wood are no better than we have and Mason couldn't give a damn about Wakefield when he left years ago. In any case he hasn't got much rugby brain and is a penalty liability!

Thats correct he does not but WTW should and so should the fans, otherwise whats the point of running juniors/academys We all seem to want a club badge and a club shirt that represents Wakefield but we don't want players who represent Wakey. if the man in charge is intent of building a team of his own choice then why did half of them sign before he did
Why have we not shouted the sigining of James Davey from the rooftops?

I am not the kind of person that comes on here and post's drivvle about every such subject. A post count is just about the least important thing in my life to be honest. What is important to me is WTW, not idividual players or staff members but the club itself. When i'm told someting in confidence i'm not going to come on here and give all the details. What i will do is come on here and try to give an account of it (good or bad). I may not always get the point across that i'm trying to make but i never have been very good at getting thing's down onto paper.

So even though you may know. You cannot disclose until an official announcement is made therefor...
You cannot prove you know more to anybody and that's of no use to me at all.
Oh..
You will be impressed with whats around the corner at WTW

Totally agree Al and what about the 1873 scheme this should prevent things like this from happening. Smurph a young Wakefield player come through the ranks its not giving out the image we want ! The club are getting 200,000 + from this scheme. Stopping things like this happening I thought were all the point of this scheme !!!

Totaly agree
I am not happy about loosing Murph, to all intent and purpose one of our own, as our friend says above this was not suppose to happen again, and I will seriously have to reconsider the 1873 club if and when it happens.
I suppose the other side is agents at work, but even so the club must be in the driving seat.
The players mentoined come nowhere near a deal for Murph IMO.

FWIW he's already gone. Announced on the Batley site. I would post a link but it won't allow me to access their website at work.

My understanding is the 1873 scheme is about signing and keeping all the top prospects & promising youngsters who haven't made it to the first team. This with Murphy would appear to be something else, take your pick it's either, Murphy wants away because he's been offered more money, or the Coach doesn't rate him, or Trinity got a very good deal for him.

Mine too. It's about attracting and developing young players before they make it to the first team.
Being cynical, though, in the light of what may be about to happen, you could say it's about the fans funding the academy and the club/owner cashing in on the profits.

Untill they develope and another club comes calling.
Can you explain how that works, Raliegh and Kirmond are squad players (both decent squad players who will add to the team) why do we have to let a player go who wants to be at Wakey and is more than a squad player, i just don't get it.
Two homegrown british centres out and two Aussies in, is that really the way forward for us.

Not in my view. Although I ca accept George probably was a lost cause and needed replacing, the whole Murphy thing may have been avoidable.
