Quote: kinleycat "Thats a long winded way of saying yes really.
The problem i have always though is, that buy and large the people of Wakefield (and i speak on the behalf of mostly all of them) are an apathetic bunch.
So if it is the case of SL or nothing, we may as well have packed in years ago, ok with P & R you always had a chance, but to think that we have no chance without P & R we may as well be dead now and save everyone the bother, because on assumption, we must remain at the top level for ever, and that in reality for a club like ours (being at risk for 2 out of 2 franchises) is not the case.'"

If Wakey were playing in our back garden, the wife would close the curtains that's how much she likes rugby, has it ever occurred to you that quite a lot of people in Wakefield aren't interested in rugby, so why you feel the need to lambast the general public who clearly have no interest in an overpriced unsuccessful product beats me, surely the way forward is to entice the stay away's back, but there lies the problem because to do that you will have to give them something a little more than what is on offer at the moment, and to that I say good luck.

I fully understand the sentiments and if everybody thought the same we would do fine, unfortunately everybody has different thoughts on the matter and I think for every one like you and KK what are thinking positively there will be two what won't see it your way.

I agree I'm a Wakefield fan but not a proud RL fan any more, I used to be at challenge cup final internations etc every year and spreading the RL gospel to all non RL fans but not anymore. It gets me that if we are down then why? When ours is not the weakest app but we could go on all day about this. If the worse happened I'd like us not to sulk but keep on the good work off the field get a competitive side and get into NM ASAP. NM is the key if that doesn't pass pi it will be a struggle but hopefully it should pass Pi and this City gets the sports facilities it needs

I don't really see it like that, our gates are comparable to 2008, when we were giving them something to watch. Go in any pub and at somepoint if you're talking about sport, Trinity will get a mention, but many of those people don't go, won't go or haven't gone in years if at all, yet they all want to talk about it.
I think we need to match the will of the new owner, in trying to make things better and that means spending a bit more or getting more people to spend in order to get a successful club, success breeds success.
I read on another post, about cas tigers, being the main thing in cas, Trinity is not the main thing in Wakefield, so maybe that's a problem that needs addressing, but that explains why out of a smaller head of population they getter proportionally a larger attendance.
That could well be a deciding factor to the RFL, it's that tight, even though potentially we could be a much bigger club.

I know, I do respects peoples opinion about all this but its OUR club so we ultimately have to back/support it, even more so in the difficult times.

You have hit the nail right on the head POTENTIAL. We have the potential to be bigger than half the clubs in SL we have the city we have been the best in RL before trouble is we've have been playing in crap stadia and ran like a corner shop for 30 + years. The real reason other fans try to put us down is because we have the potential to be one of the biggest clubs in RL and they can't handle it. With AG and NM getting PP this will give us the tools to reach our potential

i dont think there is any doubt we wont be in sl from the end of the season.if the club recurit well and have one of the best teams in the league and nm is still in the pipeline then i think it will be a blessing in diguise but i dont think this will happen i believe we will become another oldham/workington.crowds will drop and who knows even nl2could come close.so i do think it could be the end of the world althoughi will be there work permitting.

regarding the franshise application i may be wrong but dont the rl say the weakest one would lose out and the keys points are ground, youth structure, comunity devlopment, club stabailty(finanically)location and previous performences.if this is the case would ag not be able to takethe rl to court as the crusarders only get us on location and ground(and thats open for debate at moment).

This is how i see it, we have one of the biggest names in RL, a name synonymous in all corners of the RL world.
Lets compare ourselves to the best, Wigan.
Same size Town/City - Wigan 81, 203 - Wakefield 76,886
Same size Borough/Area - Wigan 301,415 - Wakefield 315,172, so similar demographic.
We have one serious rival Castleford averaging 7-8K 13 times a year (plus CC games).
Wigan have the Latics who i would imagine average around double that of Castleford 19 times a year (plus FA, LGe cup games).
Both Rugby Towns, mainly working class.
Both Clubs/Areas have a heritage of grass roots RL development, so the interest from an early age is there.
And this is where both clubs start to differ, although both clubs have had their great times and lean ones, ours have been considerably leaner in recent years, so we have had longer for our fans to distance themselves from the club (about 40 years!!)
In this time the club has had a succession of owners who for one reason or another have not been able to deliver any kind of real/sustainable success, we've either been in turmoil or been on the cusp of something and then the wheels have fallen off, or of course at the mercy of the rugby gods as we are now and as we were at the beginning of SL.
This leads to sons hearing fathers talking down the club, (my dad i can recall only ever taking me to one game, the rest of the time i went with my mate and his dad, and then mates when older) people have grown up "knowing" that the club is a bit of a joke, yet we are still here, and the people don't know what they are missing (sometimes!!!)
As Chissit says not everyone likes rugby, ok we cant do a lot about that, but there are a hell of a lot who do and we desperately need them to buy into the club because the club needs that money to become bigger.
Others have stated that if we go down we're as good as dead, that cannot be right, or it cannot allowed to be right, the politics stink we know that, but for the sake of the game we all love, it cannot happen.
The selfish attitude of "xxxx it! ive had enough" though understandable, i've said it numerous times recently will ultimately lead to our kids and grandkids having no pro RL to watch ever again, and that is unbelievably sad.
We have got to look at what Wigan have done, even during Wigan's lean SL years they were still getting around 10k -24K per game, because they always had the belief.
Our club need to give us something, some trust, some belief, but we have got to (no matter what league we end up in) return our support, otherwise it is the end.
I have seen enough from the new owner to show he knows how to bring money into the club, he has opened up revenue streams we did not have before, the money we were spending rarely made it into the clubs coffers, now it is.
It will only carry us so far and then the apathy will win and we will be back to square on again, it really is down to us.
We know why many don't com and haven't for years, lets get them back, if the club give us the belief, we have to bring the money, and more supporters means we all have to spend a bit less.

Good post Kinley. Wakefield Trinty is a great historical name, and deserves better than the lower leagues.

I hope your new guy can turn the club around, and the Wakey Folk continue to support it. Some steady progression over the next few years will see you back at the top table..... where you belong.

All the best.

Send this to the RFL great post .... We are not a national league side we dont belong in the same title as batley, dewsbury, leigh etc. I have a problem with going down its a poor league just look at the CC cup scores. We are a Super League team maybe under Ted we deserved the boot but not now !!!! We are going places. We have nearly reached out 1873 target we are good for the future the depression of national league will knack us big time !

Very arrogant. I'm sure the fans at those clubs mentioned will love to see their team ram your comments down your throat next season if you do go down.Looking at some of your scores against teams in the same division as you i wouldn't even start comparing results bearing in mind the funding difference and the fact that the majority of Championship players are only part time.
