Yeah, they're queueing up to invest in Wakefield Trinity...

True, although there have been times that we have spent money we do not have.

| Quote: Trinhomeandaway "Well then he is obviously not the right man for the job !!
How many other buisnesses would allow the chairman to run the business like this ?'"
Off the top of me head I don't know, but what I do know is that most board of directors would be grateful for the likes of Mr Carter for keeping the business afloat on an even keel, investing in new equipment despite the difficult circumstances he finds himself in, do you have any knowledge other than what the doom and gloom merchants on here say, that he is obviously not the right man for the job, it's not an exact science running the club, but you seem to think it is despite admitting that personally you would not have a clue.
Quote: Trinhomeandaway "It's the role of the chairman to bring these people in it is as simple as that
Why on earth should I know any such people,I'm not in a position where I need to know these type of people,I wouldn't expect to be put in a position of authority in a proffesional sports club if I didn't have the contacts who could bring on this type of investment.'"
I'm sure if the CEO new of such people prepared to invest in the club he would be on it, but from what I've seen and heard he does not seem to be doing too badly getting sponsorship in sadly though not enough, If you were in a position where you knew of such people or you yourself were able to do a better job then your criticism would be warranted, but guess what, all you've done is whinge on without a credible solution to the problem, maybe you should start by grasping the financial realities of life.

| As I said in my previous post on this thread, MC shouldn`t be excluded from criticism, I think he got the coaching decision wrong and I think he has got others wrong, I also think clinging on to CC for so long damaged us, also paying him is taking money from our budget. But for balance:
1.When people talk investment, MC and his team seem to do a relatively good job on sponsorships, which is investment in the club and lets be honest, we aren`t the most lucrative club to sponsor.
2. Our support has been poor (I realise that is chicken and egg with the on field performances) but as much as we can point the finger at lack of marketing coming out of the club, lack of incentive, the fans are there there just not coming to games, it`s a difficult period financially for a lot of folk so no doubt that plays a part.
3. MC and JM have obviously put a massive amount of work into the stadium plans which looks highly likely to be successfully implemented, something that at times looked very doubtful.
4. Above everything, MC has always been honest with fans regarding our budget and restraints at the club.

Sorry mate it was a genuine question with no intent, for the life of me I just can't remember.

I think all those on here who criticise MC, for his lack of financial expertise should refresh their memories from just 2 years ago, he kept the club going then, and doing his best now, with a much lower budget now than 2 years ago.

That’s the bit that irritates me, people questioning his commitment and financial management of the club, when the reality is without both we wouldn’t have a club to moan about!

I get it jonh, I do. He did a lot, particularly in the early days.
Though when your then chairman quite openly says they would happily sell the club for £1, you can't blame the fans for questioning his commitment. Some people have long memories and will bring it up, just like it was on the Red, White and Blue page

Or maybe you realise that the club is worth 99p and the hassle you get for keeping it going isn't worth it.
If you think you can do better I'll GIVE you a Pound - you don't ever need to pay me back.
Get in touch with Carter, then send me your bank details - I'll transfer it immediately.
Let's see if YOUR commitment matches his.

I would imagine that in his early tenure at the club Mr Carter spent most of his time shuffling the debts about in an effort to put the club on a sound financial footing, having had the success he thoroughly deserves for doing that, although he won't be allowed to stand still on that success I'm sure things will come a lot easier as he's got to grips with the task that was in front of him, as for those with the long memories, I think a lot of those said fans memories are far shorter when it suits.

| I don’t doubt the commitment and ability of Carter and Mynards to run the club within our means.
I think the issue with crowds is we have been starved of any success now for 5 years and it’s starting to show. We need a successful season and soon so we can ride off that for another few seasons.
Unfortunately I think we are in a situation where a number of out of contract players know the aren’t getting a deal and a few who have security of another couple of years taking them to the twilight of their careers and it shows in their performances.
We really must get recruitment bob on for next year.
I’m still excited about the future when I see the likes of Murphy, Hall, Eseh, Bowes in particular.
It’s tough going atm bring a trin fan staying positive.

Have I ever said I could do better, or am prepared to take it on.
I would think it was tongue in cheek, and would think there would be a lot more costs involved

It’s a term fairly regularly used and a token transaction that does happen with companies who carry debts to the directors.
I actually think he was serious and if someone would step forward and give him a £1 he would have taken it at the time as the asset value associated with the club would not outweigh the debt.
It’s genuinely not particularly uncommon to occur and the nominal value of £1 is recognition of the above.
I don’t know if that is still the case and if we are debt free however I would doubt it even if it is only Directors loans that we would need to repay should someone come in and look to invest.
