| Quote: Dunkirk Spirit "Was there any mention of a money raising scheme involving fans and other interested parties. This was mentioned by JM at the Friday lunch last week.'"
Yes there was, they were looking for interested parties single or multiple groups of fans who were willing to invest however large or small in some sort of shares or sponsorship.

| MC mentioned that the club were trying to get Murphy to agree to an extension. Had his best poker face on so don't know how it's progressing.

| Looks a little concerning in that we don't seem to be extending retention on our young players at the moment, I hope they don't get picked off by other clubs with us being slow to retaining etc !

| Good news about Proctor but I think I expected more!
Looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer!

I'm guessing the club are determined to see out the WC, at least until the QF's are done. The QF's will be the first really competitive games in the comp IMO, so it makes sense to at least see those out.

Yeah, I think you're right and why not?
Might as well see all that's on offer, it's not like there's a host of clubs looking, because most have spent up or have no quota spots left!

That is down to the bigger clubs having backers so they can run at a lost. Mr Carter said there was 10 clubs in S L with a net combined loss of 10 million pounds per season and we can not live with them as we have the smallest budget in S L .TJ wanted to play for Wakefield so he stayed ,With the new set up think you will see all the better young players to play for the so called grade A teams . Most young players will not play a lot at the beginning of there career at grade A teams but will still be on more Cash than what grade B teams can pay and grade C

Mash told us that he had spoken to JD on the phone in OZ last week about any recommendations he might have and was told that most started off at around £300K which is roughly what the top Aussies over here are on apparently, coupled with what MC said that we could not hope to cope with that type of signings financially we would have to see if we can unearth any gems from the Island nations from this weekend on, maybe the quota players we have in mind are already in this country playing he couldn't or wouldn't be more explicit, you can only fill the gaps in yourself from what was said really.

It might be me what's gullible here because I don't know how firmly MC tongue was pressed into his cheek, but he said that David Fifita was due back in the country later this month and he intended meeting up with him for a catch up, he was wondering out loud that now his brother has retired and spoilt his plan to play a season together whether he might be tempted to do one last season over here, maybe maybe not.

Interesting is that. Why would he be coming back over?

Didn't the conversation start though when someone asked what were the chances of Dave returning to play now that his brother was not continuing?
He said he would catch up with Dave over a coffee on his return to the UK in December but had no idea what Dave's plans were. Somewhere in there he queried if Dave would take a contract for £25k per year.

Quote: chissitt "Mr Carter did not say they were specifically in talks with 4 overseas players but had an open mind regarding any incoming player and were receiving reports daily with players wanting to join the club, and that finances would to a large extent dictate who came in, the club had an open mind and were waiting to see what came about now the world cup had reached the business end, he did state though that they had had one recommendation for a Fijian player.'"
Wonder if the recommendation is for the Fiji prop - Joseph Ratuvakacerivalu, 25 years old who is 6ft 3 and 18 1/2 stone who plays for Redcliffe Dolphins?
