| Quote bren2k="bren2k"Re the claim that the RFL told MC that if WTW went into admin, they'd be instantly relegated; he's never actually provided any evidence of that has he?
If it's written down anywhere, I'd be very surprised, so even it was relayed to him verbally, the RFL would issue a straight denial and say that he must have misinterpreted what was said etc etc.
I think that particular argument is a bum steer; either because it never happened, or because there is no proof that it ever happened.'"
Wouldn't London have been told the same thing ? If so, then surely it's conclusive evidence - but if they haven't , then it's one word against another .

@Andie99uk: : Heres the company that has folk sitting on the "independent" Bulls appeal, @TheRFL is a joke organisation. t.co/x6uh1nowr6

One foot in Bulls camp, one foot in RFLs. Starting to think the delay is to make sure they put their ducks in a row and won't face a challenge from us after it.
Someone told me Kath was on Sky Sports News yesterday? Anyone see it?

The situation is uncomfortable for all parties.
We have the Bulls fans believing that the RFL advised them to go into admin to force OK to part with his shares and we have the Wakefield fans believing that if we went into admin, then we would be demoted.
Talk about poles apart.
Whatever the case and whoever may have said what to whom, The Bulls went into admin due to insolvency and a points deduction is fully in order, regardless of whether OK's hand was forced.
BUT, the outcome will be slanted in favour of either the governing body or a club that the RFL can not afford to lose from SL, certainly an interesting conundrum.
The prospect of Salford being drawn into the fray, may help us ?

Pinsent Masons do a lot of this type of thing for the RFL and clubs.
Rather that being part of a conspiracy, you have to ask yourself, how many firms of solicitors in the North are going to be specialized in sports laws and familiar with RFL regulations?

| That maybe the case but it doesn't exactly make them truely 'independent' as claimed does it?
For example they could have used these guys. I mean the fact that they are partners with Wakey wouldn't have bothered Bradford at all would it?

| Pinsent Masons do all of the RFL Legal Work and have for the past 8 years. Thats why they were used for that transaction.
It would have seemed far more inappropriate for the RFL to have ditched the legal firm they have used for 8 years and used a different one, affiliated to Wakefield, for this specific case.

Of course it would as they are linked to one of the clubs affected by the outcome. But in the same way they shouldn't be using a firm that has links to the actual club involved in case either! It matters not whether they have used this firm on many occasions over a period of time, for this particular case they should have looked elsewhere. A simple google search brings up plenty of law firms in Yorkshire that could have done the job equally as well and would have appeared to all to be truely independent, by using this firm it gives the opposite impression. They really don't help themselves.

******* STOP-PRESS....BREAKING NEWS ********
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats chairman Mike Catter has announced that the club is to appeal against the points deduction imposed by the RFL for going into administration in 2012. In a statement issued this morning by Catter, he stated that the club are to pay for the services of an independent panel, appointed by the RFL, to look into the matter.
Catter stated to waiting journalists "We believe the club was treated unfairly back then, and believe that we have good grounds for launching an appeal".
If successful, the 4 points that were deducted at the time, could be added to the clubs tally for this season.
In reply to Catter's statement, RFL Chief Executive Neil Wooden stated "Although Wakefield are not an iconic club, they are perfectly within their rights to appeal against the decision. We offered them the services of a totally independent, non-biased panel comprising of Mr Marc Green from Bradford, Mr Jack Fulton from Castleford and Mr Gus Mackay from London, but they have decided to pay for their own independent panel comprising of Mr N Fox, Mr C Brereton, and Mr P.Townsend all from Wakefield."
Extensive enquiries carried out by this publication have revealed that the selected individuals work for Wakefield-based legal firm "Topliss, Fox, Poynton and Demetriou".
We contacted this company and spoke with Mr N Fox who stated that although he had never heard of the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, or even Rugby League, he was delighted that his independent company had been chosen by the club, and that they would act with utmost integrity in independently assessing the facts that they were being paid a handsome sum to assess, and would independently arrive at the right decision for the club, whom he had never heard of.
We tried to suggest to Mr Wooden from the RFL that for a Wakefield-based legal firm to be placed in charge of this matter could be seen by some as hardly being independent, but his secretary stated that Mr Wooden had retired for his usual 3 hour lunch break, and had gone for "a pie or two".

I'd love to see the interpretation of independent they used then.
