| Just back to the car after the game. First half mistakes were even for both sides. Second half St's managed to keep hold of the ball and we had far too many knock ons. St's were much faster at the play the ball too. The possesion they got from making fewer mistakes gave them the points.
St's were quick to break from scrums, and held on in the tackle for as long as possible - bit of sportsmanship.. If Childs had been in charge they would have been pulled up a lot more!
We tackled well, and put some good plays together. Mortons try was one of the best I've seen from a Wakefield winger for years.
I'm dissapointed with the result, but not the performance. We will win a lot more than we'll lose this year, and on a dryer day may have won tonight.
If brough had been on for the last bit of pressure we ha, he may have sparked something to get the draw.
Our support was brilliant. Very vocal, everytime st's scored we cheered the boys back on!
..just the long drive home now.
Bring on the midgets next week!

| its all superficial now but if the defensive line would have just held firm for a few more minutes when saints were pushing.. oh well not to be. tbh im dissappointed but wakey have come a long way and plenty more to come this season.
Well done guys anyway..good effort just a bit of ball retention let us down easy fixed up.

| When will the powers that be admit alibert does not deserve to be on the same pitch as the players. Eastmonds finish dont get me wrong was excellent but since when have you been allowed to run behind your own players? Melis try must have been half a yard forward as well as was the pass from gidley to help set it up. Kept penalising us for offside and holding down but didnt play it the other way. Very proud of the players extremely disappointed with the ref. Just hope the decisions even themselves up over the course of the season. Teams like saints need a strong ref as they play to the limits, unfortunately for us alibert is not strong, childs would have murdered them tonight and it would have been the saints fans ranting instead of me.
Mortons try was worth the admission fee alone. Wasn't all the ref we were guilty of too many errors (murphys was telling as they scored from it but he was a rock otherwise). Jd made a couple of howlers but we all know he'll make it up througjout the season, blaymire made a decent return, morton gets better every game davey looks ready and didnt shirk a thing, latu was his usual busy self and tronc put in a mammoth effort think he played about 70 mins, brough was excellent again(hope is injury isnt too bad as we were a bit lost without him), jeffries continuwd his good form and sam has the heart of a lion. Pleased with the effort but disappointed with the result which speaks volumes considering where we played tonight.

Thats a Wakey fans version of the game and yes I know it is on the Wakey site. Your first try was from a pass that was so far forward it was beyond belief. The second Wakey try came from a knock on which was missed by the officials. It was right infront of us. I don't think Brough going off cost you the game as we lost Gidley with what looks a long term injury. His replacement lasted about a minute before he went off with a wrist or hand injury (just hope it's not broken.) All in all it was a very good exciting end to end game which could have gone either way. The officials were poor but for both sides. You should be proud of your team they will still be up there at the end of the season when it matters.

| Nothing to be ashamed of tonight. Sounds like we were masters of our own downfall.
Saints will spank a few this season and so will we.

| And im looking forward to seeing this team we have dish out a spanking. Seems like we have picked up some good players in Tronc and Millard.
There seems to be a tough backbone to the team this year. Hope brough is ok.
How did Davey go in his 2nd?? outing of SL.

| It was an excellent game in awful conditions.
The young lads really shone and came of age.
Im really pleased after attending all our 1st 4 matches and we are making small progress.
I do believe if we are to compete at the very top we need to add and strenghten with a couple of players. The rotation with 3 props is not enough and we need another robust no nonsense forward.
I also think we probably need another centre as I think the jury is still out on gleeson.
Im ever the optomist and look forward to a great game against a big crowd at home against the Giants next week.
The support from us was superb tonight, bring it on!!!!!!!

think you were lucky not to have a man in the bin for a deliberate trip just before our second try. Think if we hadn't have scored there would have been calls for a penalty try for the professional foul.

| blaymire was too slow to stop eastmond and cunningham was too strong for davey. both teams spilled it too much but us a bit more. was about 5 yards away from morrison at 12-0 to us..he touched the ball with both hands at the same time the saints player kicked the ball..if that had been given 18-0 and we were sailing. cunningham changed the game and saints were a lot better with him there .
well done wakey thouogh, tough game and we have come on leaps and bounds from last year.
as for morton's finish, that was sheer CLASS!

| I was very impressed by Tronc, I think he'd do well to request a transfer across the hills to Saints. Brough was everywhere for you till he went off, the annoying little she ite is turning into quite a player. I thought Obst and Korkidas really struggled with the slippery ball, I've never seen so many knocks on from the play the ball. You were unlucky tonight, you matched Saints in the initial exchanges and went 12-0 up with two great long range tries. But the last 10 of the first half Saints got on top and pinned you back with an excellent kicking game from Eastmond and Pryce setting up Lomax's try to leave it 6-12 at the break. Saints dominance continued into the second half and Eastmond's try came from a lovely flat pass (I was in line with it, it was fine) and was finished superbly. The only time I feel Wakey clocked off defensively was when Cunningham pinched a trademark try to mark his 500th appearance.
But still Wakey were able to get back into the game. A penalty and some great drives from Tronc helped you to score in the corner. You could tell Saints were under pressure as we went for 2 from the half way line. I think with Brough on the field you might have had a chance of a draw, but as it was you didn't really threaten the line, but it made it very tense. Brough didn't seem badly injured, looked like he caught a stray boot and was K.Od and cut as he was wobbling like a drunk as he ran off.
I think you'll continue to do well this season, your pack is good. I feel you are missing a top quality hooker and if you could find a replacement for Newton somewhere you've got a chance of making the Semi Finals this year in SL. Decent away following too, one of the best I've seen from Wakefield. I'd guess at around 750-1,000. Good luck for the rest of the season.

| Personally, I think we were very lucky to win that match and we probably wouldn't have had Brough remained fit. Some of that was because we - as has become the norm - made life difficult for ourselves but some of it was down to your guys who have strengthened further on the back of a pretty good season last year.
I'm not sure I enjoyed the game as Saints were way too frustrating for that, but I'm glad we won (or perhaps relieved is a better word!).
One of your tries - the kick through one - was a joy to watch.
