What makes you think we could even compete at that standard?
I've been watching championship rugby a bit more this past couple of seasons as I stopped going to Trinity away games, and at best we are bottom half of the championship at present, and would likely lose any of our slightly better players leaving us even worse.
I can see a very real possibility that we drop straight through the championship into championship 1

| Quote: TimmySmith "Really? For a while now it’s been men against boys, we don’t have the funds to revamp the squad in full.
Would preparing properly, stepping back and making a real go for it in the championship be a worse approach than struggling to post points each week?
A season in the Championship hasn’t gone too badly for the likes for Huddersfield or Hull KR.'"
If prepared and planned for correctly, with the right people running the club, and making the right decisons, it wont be an easy road, buy its not impossible either.
Invest in your youth, believe on them, some shrewd players with experience at that level and you have a competetive squad.
Its a good time to clear dead wood. Think of some players in our squad who could be freed.

That you have the sheer arrogance to believe that we can turn this around within a year and bounce back into super league in the year despite P&R being removed shows the delusion those who think relegation is a positive
The reason we don't have the money is because the current owners have seriously mismanaged the club for at least the past three season. Whether this is deliberate or incompetence is up for debate, but they're the only two options we're left with'"
Have you maybe thought it’s more realism over delusional or arrogant? You don’t think we’re going to turn it round within half a season and stay up do you?

I think you’re spot on with it, no Wakefield fan wants to see us playing long term championship rugby but if that’s what’s required to ensure we can move the dead wood on and rebuild then so be it.

| Well what can you say.
I've run out of patience with Proctor. Atoni thank god didn't play.
Smith had some sweful moments.
And to be honest Kelelpi was a bit of a waste of time.
Balanced with some players putting maximum effort in. I really feel for them.

| A further observation…..
Still the ‘anyone who disagrees with a single bullet point of my argument is a deluded idiot’ rhetoric…
I’ve always been taught that, when times get tough we pull together… seems the new mantra is, when times get tough, whinge and find a scapegoat!
And call out anyone who offers a scintilla of a contrary position!
The team are in a hole at the moment and some people seem to revel in that misery, using it to further their own agenda. It makes sharing time and discussion with people on here disagreeable … I understand it… from a socio- psychological viewpoint … but it’s unpleasant.

| Bad call by the coach tonight not to play Gale. The possession we had in the first half on their line was crying out for him to play.

Well that's the million dollar question. Our revenue doesn't hold out for competing in SL, however if the forecast are accurate we have circa £600k of funding we don't currently have. It should see us put together a competitive outfit. Is Applegarth the right man to take charge of that? For me that's a no. We all know the players aren't at the level of SL, but we look so poorly Coached I don't think it would matter if we did have better players.

| Watched the game tonight and admittedly I cannot comment with any authority on your season so far.
But from what I`ve seen one of your problems seems to be Lino.
He kicks and dummies far too many times or should I say at the wrong time.
He doesn`t link between the forwards and the backs for me.
Proctor a complete waste of space.
Was Gale injured as whilst he is nowhere good enough to play at the top I think he will help.
Get your first win from somewhere and you might put pressure on Cas.
Good luck for the rest of the season.

If we currently had the right people running the club and making the right decisions we wouldn't be looking at getting relegated
If they can't do it with all of the privileges that come with playing at the top flight, what makes you think they can do it at any level?

| I thought Dagger looked good tonight, our best player.
I've not been impressed with Lino for a while, too slow, too predictable.
Stupid not playing Gale tonight.

| Absolutely bored out of my mind for most of that. But I didn't really see anyone who wasn't trying. Proctor was trying it's just he's absolutley knackered after 5 minutes and plays the ball like a 98 year old. What I don't get is hasn't he played most of his career runnning onto the ball wider? if so why are we having him plow it up the middle?
We are clearly inhibited by extrmely low confidence because there were little patches where we played the ball at speed, got the ball wide at speed and actually ran on to the ball at speed. The problem is for the rest of the time everything is so laboured in both attack and defence that the opposition have it way too easy.
We can't change the squad the only thing we can change is the head coach. He's gotta go we still somehow have a tiny glimmer of hope because Cas are also gash, just not as gash as us at this point. Surely we wouldn't want him in charge next year after a season of such failure this, so why wait anyway?
I heard Gale had a groin injury, anyone else hear that?

I have been saying the same about Lino all year. I’ve never been convinced by him. Bags of effort but nobody knows what he’s going to do. He holds the ball up too much too often which allows teams to fix up. Kicking on 3/4th a few times. Wakey have him as main playmaker. He’s a running supporting 6 and the ball needs to be in the other half’s hands much more. I’d honestly try Gale and Smith next week as Lino has been the only constant all season.
