| Quote: upthecats "Think signing Gale would be a big mistake personally...has been a good player but best years definitely behind him and just don't see him being the type of character that would fit in at Wakey...
We're looking likely to have three if not more quota spots free and for me I'd hunt high and low and put the majority of available budget into a quality 6 and 9 from overseas....as previously mentioned...a player like Brodie Croft can make such a difference....also look back to Salford making a grand final with Hastings and Lusick...two quality players in the pivots...
Huddersfield last season finished on the same points as us but went out and spent wisely under Watson to go from a struggling season to play off contenders....I know we haven't got their kind of money to throw around but again...two quality pivots signed there in Levi and Fages make such a difference...'"
I see the exact opposite tbh.
Class never goes and class is what we lack in the creative department. Also his career is totally contrary to what you suggest. His best years were at Cas and London, smaller clubs, it's big clubs he's done less well at.
You have to have a mix, and you need a few players who have done it all. We are a team who struggle to make good 5th tackle choices and it costs us, Gale does that very well. His kicking game alone would instantly improve our end of set options.
Just so long as we don't have to pay for his new hair I'll be just fine with this if it happens.

There are few posters I'd dismiss out of hand, but you are one. I don't recall you ever being right, but hey there is always a first time. You raised that million pounds yet?

| Quote: Sacred Cow "The belief is Aydin is going to Leeds. Given O’Connor’s son plays for them he quite possible has some info from there.
As for Gale i don’t know who you were watching last night but the one i was seeing was way off the pace, like he has been all season. A couple of badly dropped grubbers by us does not make a good performance for me. It would be more akin to the Brough signing.'"
Oh so his pack wasn't or the rest of his team, come on.
I'm not suggesting Gale is ideal or the player he was but we have a good history with end of career players offering us good service and as they say, class is permanent so why dismiss him. How many time are we going to fall for this, slag a player off based on his previous club form only to be lording him later. Westerman was the last don't tough with a barge pole player, and Finn should never be near SL we were told.
So what, regarding O'Conners son, why would he know?

Personally never faulted miller for his commitment in his defensive work but it was the attacking side of his game that required improvement ,especially on the oppositions line , where Ashurst was the usual recipient of the mandatory hospital pass when all else failed , and last play options were at times abysmal . Obviously Lino must share some of the blame also ,but he gets his nose in front in the halfback stakes due to his kicking prowess

| Yesterdays article in Total RL
James Batchelor says “challenging myself and getting out of my comfort zone” were big motivations in making the move to Hull KR from Wakefield Trinity.
The forward’s transfer has now been confirmed, signing a two-year contract at Craven Park from the start of next season.
Batchelor, 24, has spent his whole career to date at Wakefield but has played his final game for the club as a hamstring injury has ruled him out for their remaining games.
“I’m at that point in my career where it’s not only about playing consistently, week-in week-out, but challenging myself and getting out of my comfort zone,” said Batchelor of the switch to East Yorkshire.
“It’s going to be something new, I’m excited for some Friday night games in front of the fans at Sewell Group Craven Park. It’s always been a great atmosphere every time I’ve played at Hull KR.
“I want to really kick on at KR and be challenging for things every year. I want to win some silverware. I think we can do something special as a team.
“Leaving my hometown team after so many years was tough and I wanted to make sure I was making the right decision. I spoke to Willie (Peters, incoming Robins’ head coach) about the club, himself and how he wants to play and within ten minutes he’d sold me on it.
“I think how Willie wants us to play and what he values as a coach is exactly the environment I want to be a part of.”

Right up there with Peter Fox's famous "when I heard Hull KR were interested in me " quote.
Hull KR have finished below us in 5 out of the last 6 seasons and last season they played the covid card to elevate their percentages.
Hope he doesn't accept any lifts home from Brad Takairangi.

| What do you want him to say, I left because Wakefield did not want to match the offer from Hull KR or it is clear they lack any ambition. What he said was actually designed not to embarrass us which would you prefer.
He will be missed but obviously the club believes otherwise, do London have any other players we can sign. I wish him well because he did what he obviously set out to do which was help us stay up before he left and he never let us down.

| These so called quotes that come out after a player signs for a club do make me laugh, it's almost as if they have been taken hostage and are saying it under duress.
Batch is probably handcuffed to some radiator in Hudgell's office.

It just seems to me that one minute they're kissing the badge and next they have a move that they were born for. Just move on and cut the bull. As pointless as saying I'm joining a club who are just as as the one I'm leaving, the best coach in the comp has just walked out and they have retained a drunk driver on the books.
When Miller goes it should read: I've been offered more money and a longer (possibly) contract and Cas seem to be closer to winning something NOT I think Radford is building something I want to be part of and I've always loved the Cas fans etc. Lets see.

Apart from the monotonous dig at the club, I agree.

| I wouldn’t need to have a dig at the club if they actually did something positive on field rather than you beating the drum for not be able to generate increased revenue. They are good at not being able to retain players but PT do you actually believe they will replace with better.

So are you going to give them credit for all the players they have retained.
And I have no idea who they'll get yet. It will be hard to get better than Batch
But it's no different to Leeds not retaining Hurrell or Salford not retaining Jackson Hastings or Cas losing Clarke or Holmes or Wigan losing Gildart, or Sts losing Fages......etc etc.
Life goes on.

Yes but they have better squad players plus we have definitely lost TJ, Topou, Walker & Batchelor plus more than likely Miller, Arona and Aydin. The problem is that this free up plenty of money but if they believe spending some on giving a player like Gale a two year deal just shows they have learned nothing.
We should know very soon who we have definitely lost but finding replacements for a team constantly struggling, lowest salary cap and losing a large chunk of their first team squad who are improvements might be difficult. I know PT you believe and will support whoever wears the shirt sadly I don’t think this is good enough anymore, supporters want to see success.

We all want success. But just stamping your feet in a tantrum doesn't actually get it done.
Support in Wakefield is low. Even when we had success we haven't really had big crowds since the 60s.
The stadium is the best way to start an increase and that's on its way.
If we generate more money we can put it into the team.
The list you give is a lot of salary cap. Before judging, why not wait to see who they get.
And Gale is only a rumour on here so far.
