| Quote: wrencat1873 "Full strength Hull v patched up Trinity.
IF Hull dont win, there really would be something wrong.
Chester cannot be hammered for Trinity getting beaten tomorrow, unless we capitulate in the 2nd half (again).
Win or lose, we have to play for 80 minutes and be committed to the cause - minimum.
Yes, we al want a win but, most can cope if the effort is there and we dont crumble like a pack of cheap biscuits in the 2nd half.
Hull are a big side, with some real quality.
The league table is already starting to take shape, with 4 winless clubs, 4 unbeaten clubs and 3 who have just one victory.
Leigh or Salford will gain their first win in this round but, for Trinity, right now, we need try and be competitive, which will stand us in good stead when we play those in the bottom half of the league.
A victory against Hull would be a huge bonus. Let's hope for a miracle.'"
So at the start of the season we had a great squad now we have 5 or 6 players out where patched up.. i remember the pearman days and just after the money issues came to light we where at home to saints cant remember how many so called stars where out due to not been payed...i remember watching the lads warm up looking and thinking wow cricket score on its way and while not a cricket score but a least a 16-20 points difference but not to saints yes to us (ryan hudson had a blinder).so my point with any patched up side with the right structure thers always a chance

Hull don't have as many missing as you do, but we are still without Reynolds and Ma'u from our first 17, Brown who played last week is banned, Matongo is injured and don't forget Shaul is out for half the season. Throw in the fact that we played 90 minutes 5 days ago, we really aren't full strength. In fact if I was a Wakefield fan I'd be looking at Hull and thinking that they are vulnerable if we can put in an 80 minute performance.
Considering where you were 2 or 3 seasons ago I'd say that mindset shows a real lack of ambition.

Must admit I tend to agree with you, we are not that patched up that we shouldn’t go into the game with a reasonable expectation of a win.
Even full strength we wouldn’t be the favourites to win but that’s a million miles from abject surrender.
It’s a universal truth of the game, if the 17 players want to play then we have a game, a game anyone could win.
What’s frustrating fans is we have seen no evidence so far other than the Leeds game that they do actually want to play or at least play for the full game.
42 - 12 to Hull for me with Hull running riot for a thirty minute spell at some point in the game

The unpredictable Wakefield down the years of losing easily to say Salford (no disrespect intended) then beat st’s the week after are gone. We are now predictably collapsing at 50 minutes with a team that is more then capable of competing. All you want is your team to compete and play an entertaining brand of rugby, nice fast flowing attack and competent aggressive defence. Our attack mirrors that of a newly formed year 7 team where odd player just does off the cuff stuff to score and the rest of the time it’s just getting wanged around in hope of something coming off. I’ve seen a lot weaker sides down the years give very good accounts of themselves, let’s hope this one can tonight. I’m not expecting a win, just a better overall 80 minute performance

In reality a Hull win has to be on the cards but I'll very happily eat humble pie.

It's not a case of settling for the bare minimum.
If the boot was on the other foot and we were at full strength v an injury ravaged Hull, we would (rightly) expect a Trinity victory..
Even if we were at full strength v Hull at full strength, a win v FC, at their place, would be considered a very good result ??

There was no greater victory than the opener at Wigan a few seasons ago when Dave Halley scored 2.tries.
If Hull are on their game, they "should" win.
For us to get something from the game, Hull need to be off their game a little and we need a 9/10 from EVERY player.
As for the start of the season. We had a squad that was capable of finishing 9/10th in the league, I wouldn't class it as a "great" squad, especially when pretty much the same squad managed to finish 10th from 11 last season.
I'm good with wanting us to win but, to pretend that we should be winning this one is wildly optimistic.
Yes, the players have to believe they have a chance and that's down to the coaching staff to prepare them the best that we can but, for me, I'll be happy with us competing for 80 mins and if we somehow manage a win, it would be a huge bonus, just as the victories against Saints and Wigan were.

| I dont think you need Last's insight, we are beatable for sure, wind Connor up and kick long as we do lack speed in the backs.
Our attack looked good the first two games, but a bit disjointed without Reynolds. Our defence has been outstanding, I don't think we have conceded a try in the first 60 minutes in the three SL games so far.
I fancy us to win a low scoring game something like 16-6

| Effort and commitment for the whole game is my ask for tonight.
No heads going down when we concede the first try, leading to 3 or 4 in the next 15 minutes.
No Miller so give the armband to someone who is going to "lead" them. My choice for tonight would be Westerman, he has the experience and is up against an old club of his.
If we somehow manage a win I'd be ecstatic, if we come away feeing that we've given our all but it wasn't quite good enough then I'll be satisfied. Basically I guess it comes down to not losing the enthusiasm battle. I manage a kids football team and I will always say to them, the other team may be more skillful but they should never out-enthuse us.

| The team whichever one we field is totally devoid of confidence, this is borne out of loss after loss. I think if anyone at the club could have instilled some belief in the players we may have seen some improvements but it would appear they can’t. We have a coach who cannot accept any criticism of what he does but appears not adverse to naming players who he feels failed in his after match interview.

| All the 2nd half woeful performances have started from our stupid mistakes .... Not taking the kick off , kicking out on the full etc whoever plays has to cut out the errors for us to have a chance !

| Shouldn't effort and commitment be the norm.
If you play to the top of your ability with the maximum effort and commitment individual performances improve and that reflects on the team performance.
The players at present are not putting a full shift in and some are just not good enough at this level.
Confidence seems to be at an all time low after half time with only a couple of players giving 100%.

IMO no, it's not, no more than it is for most people at work though many will choose to bullcrap otherwise.
What so weird about this team is that for 50 mins their effort cannot be faulted, it's the missing 30 that is baffling.
