| That’s all well and good but you need a game plan and structure, sadly we have none of these with Chester. The first game against StHelens Hampshire kicked well but any coach with the slightest idea would know to mix it up for the second game because St Helens would just play to restrict his time to kick. I bet they couldn’t believe that we adopted the same kicker and strategy and this is one of his many failings.

Mopsey I’d have been happy if we had played the same way! We’d have still lost but lost with honour.
What we saw Thursday was several levels down from the week before.
What we got the week before was the basics done well and with commitment.
That will never be enough to beat Saints but it would be enough to beat most of the rest of SL.
For me the most glaring example of how badly organised we are was Ashurst. He’s a quality player regardless of age and injury. Yet as Wren pointed out he continually ran the ball into traffic. He also kept popping up on the right edge for no obvious reason. As I say Ashurst is a smart player, he wouldn’t do that unless he’d been ordered too, or he’s deliberately trying to make the team look bad, it’s totally against his natural game.
For those still claiming Chester doesn’t coach them to play like that need to think again. Either he does or the players are ignoring him, either way he’s lost it and has to go.
I’ve seen far worse performances by Trinity team than that, but they have always been commensurate to the quality of the team or the state of the club at the time.
The latter applies to all teams at the moment, hard times money wise. The former is what offend, these players may not be as good as we thought but they are still far better than Thursdays e show.

| Well it doesn't look like Covid is going away any time soon does it?! So no-one knows what next season will be, when will it start, will all the fixtures be completed, will there be no relegation again? We have a had a big let off, so it remains to be seen whether what we do in the next 3-4 months will make sure we don't find ourselves in this position........AGAIN!!!

I think you touch on a very good point there. Yes we’ve all seen plenty of shockers from Trinity over the years, conceding 80 against Cas & Warrington, the London debacle, losing at Carlisle etc. But given the better quality we have in this squad these days compared to those the performances over such a (very) long period of time makes this imho as bad as it’s been. If on the market players like Johnstone, Tanginoa, Fifita, Ashurst, Miller, Tupou, Arona, Lyne etc would all garner plenty of interest from other superleague clubs, some of them the top teams as well. Hell a couple are NRL quality. But week in week out we don’t perform. We also have had the deepest squad in terms of numbers we have ever had but nothing improves. That is a coaching and culture problem. Yes injuries and Covid haven’t always been kind but lets not kid ourselves that we are the only sufferers there, most clubs have had their turn. Change is an absolute must, otherwise the future is very grim indeed.

"What will keep happening, we will keep losing, Chester will blame everyone or everything but himself, the club will blame the supporters for not giving Chester a big enough budget to show his true coaching abilities and then if relegated at the end of next season both will leave and we will continue to support whatever they leave behind."
I was referring to your pathetic comment regarding the budget.

Pop tart you seem very selective on what you answer il ask you the above questions again x

| How many times have we heard the club saying we have to work with one of the smallest budgets. This is of course directly related to the number of supporters. I actually believe we have made mistakes, for example discouraging supporters from just turning up by making every game ticket only. I know currently this is not a problem and the way we are performing won’t impact on it either but should we ever turn things around I just think it discourages people from attending.
The portocabin ticket office is not geared up for large numbers.

And dishonest turnstile operators swindling the club, that’s why it was ticket only, next.

Another of my pet hates from 2012 and 13.
I requested proper reconciliations comparing the turnstile meter reads against the computer reads comparing to cash/tickets collected on each. On top of that, revenues to be safely lifted from the stadium at the end of each game, but no.

Times change mate, I remember turning up at the away turn styles for Cas games under the previous regime to be approached by "fans" offering wads of tickets at half price.

Chris asked me to repair one of the gates on the west stand that wasn't working properly allowing them to go through without registering on the counter unbeknown to the person entering bet that was a right money spinner for the operator

| Besides you can still turn up on the day, just go to the ticket office first, and also you can buy a ticket on line and dowload it straight to your mobile.

| This is ridiculous, it’s 2020, why does anybody think we need cash turnstiles! I’m old and even I can see that.
However I don’t see any reason why we can’t open a few turnstile with swipe cards. My window cleaner has a card reader!
Can’t be that difficult to adapt the turnstile to open only when a payment has been made.
Easier still just put a few more people in the ticket hut, simples.
Ticket only is now standard over most sports but I suspect the reason MC likes it is because it’s easy to account. VAT can be virtually sorted at source and paid immediately. I don’t think it’s any great surprise that since going ticket only we’ve not been owing HMRC and awaiting a winding up order.
Anybody else wish I’d not just said that last bit

I do agree here to a point Vasty. In this day and age we shouldn’t need cash turnstiles, and I think by bringing in the ticket booth in Doncaster Road has reduced this somewhat. However, there are still some people who prefer the older methods, and we shouldn’t discriminate against them, as we need as many fans as we can get. Having said that, any cash taken and held on the premises could be a security risk, as could walking across town, taking it to the bank. That is why I suggested that they use the security companies to uplift and pay it in. That’s what happened when I was at Leeds.
I think the scanners in stadiums are really good, and I know that’s what Mrs EW and her Dad use with their Hull KR season ticket. The problem is, with our turnstiles being so old and out date, it would probably be at a significant cost to the club, which if the stadium gets revamped, doing it now could be counter productive and a waste of money
