I don't agree with that comment. The players made their statement in front of tv cameras attracting far more than would have been in the ground.

| I’m amazed how people keep rattling on about this subject, I’ve far more things to worry about than BLM stuff and who has or hasn’t got down on the knee. Let them march up and down or whatever they do and let others do what they want like enjoy a game of rugby perhaps. I’m actually sick to the back teeth of it to be quite honest.

Then you’re no better than those that have driven MC from Twitter and are spouting hate all over social media.

| Journalists have a standard to maintain and they should be fairly challenged when appropriate.
Caplan is entitled to his view - but he needs to be clear - when is he reporting news and when is he giving editorials, or column pieces.
He's there to be praised or called out, depending on your stance. He's certainly not immune.
Unfortunately, as with most things, news now has to be binary.

| Quote: Scarlet Pimpernell "The bottom line this was an unnecessary controversy with the obvious outcome that the club would be applauded by those who don’t like the BLM movement for whatever reason and castigated by those who do. We should have seen this coming but the fact MC left Twitter due to the criticism would indicate that the club failed to understand that the majority of the public would only see or read about a team standing whilst their opponents knelt. I doubt whatever your view not many will have read the club statement and based their view of the club on the above.'"
Well done Scarlet, don't miss an opportunity to slag off MC or the club (you pretend to support).
So basically,in your opinion,we should have taken the knee "for a quiet life"
Maybe we did see the mini controversy coming and thats why statement was issued prior to match.
The sensible thing to do was issue the statement prior to the match and would indicate a reaction was expected.
Seems the majority on here are supportive of not acting like sheep and actually have some principles.

| If we stood in support of racism why would kneeling be any different. I hope that the club’s stance does not attract the wrong type of supporters who believe for the wrong reason that our stance was against the principle of racism. The problem is however that these type of people will not have read the club statement and base their views on the press coverage for example.
I suppose Saturday will be interesting because will the coverage be for our RL performance our the fact that we stand again, at least we won’t be alone because I expect Falau will for his own reason stand.

I’m amazed that some think that the vast majority are fully behind whatever they want, I honestly believe they are wildly misinformed .

Social media has given a voice to an innumerate amount of bellends, all convinced they are the voice of the people and they speak for the majority, because everyone is like them.
I love my social media, but I'm beginning to see why MC binned it off.
Discussion, debate, persuasion, reasoning - consigned to history.

I think the difference is quite obvious, the players stood in support of racial equality, rather than take the knee in support of a movement that has a political agenda.

Agree with that mate and just like I've said before BLM.....
A total waste of time.
It hasn't worked in the past and it won't change a thing in the future.

| I don't know why we are still discussing this. The club have explained why they did what they did.
They supported one of the team who felt they couldn't take a knee because if their religious beliefs.
The team decided to not leave them on their own which would open them up to criticism so stood together.
They still supported anti racism message, just didn't do what other people did.
There is nothing to expect or worry about the reaction. They did what they felt was right for the team. That's it.

I know - if only someone could, like, ya know, lock the thread!
Don't worry, we can repeat ourselves ad nauseum after the next game, when the players display their own free will again, like some free-thinking, self-aware, intelligent, cognoscente beings.
LOCK IT!

Well apart from the fact that we've had the USA and Germany boycott the Olympics in Russia, Russia boycott the Olympics in USA, 11 Athletes killed in Munich, South Africa banned from participating for over 30 years, think African nations boycotted becuase of NZ RU team going to South Africa, etc
Though the Olympic Committee have said publicly that no political protest or gestures are allowed, including taking a knee in the next Olympics.......we'll see how that goes. Someone will do it.
