It just looked like any first game of the season when completion rate was poor. We'll get better.
There were plenty of good things that happened.

One of the finest tries ever scored by a player with one working arm, worth the Sky subscription alone.

Quote: TheDreadnought "Well that’s fine you believe what you want it’s a free country but I thought we were sluggish.'"

We weren't sluggish. We were strong in defence but when we had field position we lacked composure. 5 times we coughed the ball up near their line. Combine that with gigots missed easy kick and the try that wasn't and that's why we lost. You will tire if you cough up possession

Agreed. No way was that a try. Obviously short and should have been overturned. The best view was 99% clear it was short. Awful decision.

If we had just shown composure in possession when we had field position in the first half, we would have won. That said, odd to give gigot kicking responsibility with max on. Bibby decision appalling.

We seem incapable of setting up a set move on the oppositions line without some sort of calamity with the ball which kept letting Wigan off the hook. Effort in bucketloads but poor execution cost us a very winnable game .

What a dismally negative assessment. In the first half we weren't too far off the pace, just annoying spills in attacking position that cost us. Second half, we held the ball better and managed to get decent field position. Overall, a very decent restart we were a bit unlucky not to win in the end

Well said. Totally agree. We just ran Wigan to a 1 point game and had an appalling decision against us. I think they deserve some credit rather than a stream of negativity

That’s the difficulty of playing an inexperienced fullback at scrum half, unfortunately despite Jowitt being a fan favourite with many on here he lacks the rugby brain and kicking game of Tim Smith, Liam Finn and Danny Brough, the same with Rocky to be fair but he has the pace to be able to add some flair to his game.

We won’t go anywhere until we have an established scrum half to compliment Miller who definitely showed signs of his off the cuff rugby yesterday.

Exciting finish to the game yesterday and naturally at first players looked rusty in the first half as they start the season again. I was really concerned 3 minutes in with TJ's injury and was baffled how he could continue, then he scored that amazing try using his left (injured) arm, spectacular!

Agree some decisions didn't go our way or could have been called differently but hey aren't they the comments after every game?

Non-rugby performance aside I had 3 observations which I don't think anybody has mentioned:

- we had Thaler as ref, that must be as frequent as we play home games in Leeds!
- what happened to the promised code to watch on the Our League app that was promised to season ticket holders? I never received the code. To be honest it doesn't bother me too much since I subscribe to Sky and Trinity TV but there will be some season ticket holders who don't and will not have received the code
- third observation is that even though this was at Leeds weren't we designated as home team? If so why were there two massive black banners covering dozens of seats which had the Wigan club badge on and the emblems of their main club/shirt sponsors? When our sponsors just had fleeting displays on the digital advertising boards. If no explanation was provided to the sponsors and I was the boss at ASUS or Mobile Rocket I would be livid!

You just don’t get it do you. Many have spotted potential in Max, that doesn’t make him the finished article. However to say he lacks a ruby brain is both clueless and insulting but it’s what I expect from you.

FB is now second only to HB when it comes to having a rugby brain.

I truly despair when I read the drivel people like you put. You base all this on one game, truly pathetic. Still I expect that if Max makes it you’ll come crawling back on here with some lane ‘I’m the first to admit’ statement.

I’d love to know why you think you know more than a top ex player and experienced coach, I mean exactly what are you qualifications? I’ll take Chester decisions overs yours or mine ever day of the week.

Why not try something new, instead of snidely undermining a young player attempting to master a new position support him instead or is that just too difficult. When he’s played a dozen games then judge, wouldn’t that be more fair.

Be honest for 5 minutes and stop the whole "I know better than you" act. Does Max have the rugby brain to be leading a Super League standard team around the park? This isn't based solely on yesterdays performance. Max is good under the high ball, he can sometimes produce a decent end ball but has no pace, isn't naturally a halfback and has no kicking game.

I'd love to be another sheep that agree's with you Fishyboi but in the 60 games Max has played for us he's had a handful where he's shown potential and that's about it. By all means keep him in the squad as he fills in at FB well but for the club to progress we need a quality HB.

FYI you made a few lil spelling mistakes. icon_biggrin.gif

Watch the last try in the first half where gigot was out of position but you'll see he had to fill a hole 10 mtrs wide between koppy and Lynn besides a couple of poor kicks gigot needs to relax a bit more and it will come.
