Quote: MashPotatoes "The difference being Jowitt has played many 1st team games. He knows what he needs to do, he shouldn’t be a rabbit in the headlights anymore. His errors put us out of reach in the 1st half which ultimately led to us losing the game. Don’t get me wrong I like Jowitt and you don’t get rookie of the year for nothing but it really was a massive fail.'"
How many of those "many 1st games" has he played on the wing??
I'm not saying he didn't make errors or they were entirely down to that positional swap but some consideration needs to be given to the fact that :
a) It was his first appearance of the season
b) He was in an unfamiliar position
c) The player inside him was also making a first appearance of the season
Lots of factors why he didn't make a blistering start. As someone else said above the whole team were lacklustre in that first half, not just him and as they all improved, so did Max.
As in most games, the difference between winning and losing is not entirely the fault of a single player. It's a team game and the whole team have to take a share of the responsibility.
