Just had a look over at TotalRl forum to see what a few Wakey fans were saying over there and one post particularly caught my eye.
A poster claims, all the teams from Hudds, Catalans, Wire, Saints and Wigan will defo be better next year. so we've missed our opportunity. Who's to say what any of those Clubs will do next year, just like 2016 & as far as I can see, we're still in there to finish as high as we ever have in SL. As long as we play like we know we can. So how have we missed our opportunity? It's not as if anyone thought we were realistically going for the Grand Final

Also he says this season looks like an ananomly (I preumre because of this loss) rather than a breakthrough year now. Lets be right just about every pundit and fan, except for our own, had us down in the bottom 4 and we've managed to be competing near the Top 4 each week, how isn't that a breakthrough year for Trinity.

He also amazingly thinks that there are question marks over the coaching staff about taking the Club further and their ability to win vital games. Basically because we ddn't beat Saints today, plus we finsihed 8th last year and got to the CC semi and this year 5th and the CC 1/4 finals and apparentely we spent a bit more on the SC and it's just a small step forward.

Must be just me, but this season has seen the general level of consistancy and quality of RL, (barring the odd game) has literally come on leaps & bounds over last year and many a year before that. This year we qualifeld for the Top 8 with ease & going into the last week could have ended up 3rd with a win. Last year, even though Chester did a great job when he came in, we got into the top 8 basically because Salford got a points deduction and we got a good draw in the CC to get to the Semi. I think on the money we spend compared to all others, the Club and players have done a marvelous job and some fans seem to lose sight of that fact sometimes.

Sums it up perfectly for me.

I was as frustrated as anyone coming away from the ground yesterday but Saints were running hot and everything they did came off and as a collective we had a bad day at the office. These things happen but much rather this be the exception than the norm which has been the case this season.

we will do well to win 1 game in the super 8 - and then we can say better than last year - or will winning 0 games keep us 7th? 7th better than 8th? 100% massive chance missed yesterday - clubs like ours need to make the most of these chances as they do not come around very often - it could be another 20 years before we get another shot at 4th,,,. very frustrating.
THE BIG GAMES WE HAVE HAD UNDER THIS COACH YESTERDAYY AND LASTS YEARS SEMI - we have not turned up to play and have been out enthused on both occasions- is that a underlying problem?

The problem in the semi last year as Wire were pretty much full strength and we had 14 injured players, but why let facts get in the way of your agenda?

The £70k+ that was thrown away yesterday by missing the extra home game could have been used to bring in another player or two. It's hard to have sympathy when people say we have the lowest value squad in the league when they throw away the opportunity to bring in more money to get a higher value squad

But surely you accept that as the lowest value squad in the league we can't expect the players to be able to win games against much better teams playing to their full potential and that by finishing 5th at the end of the regular season they have exceeded reasonable expectations already

Then we get stuck in a cycle that because we have the lowest value squad, we cant beat teams below us, which means we can't get extra income, which means we can't improve the squad massively, which means it's still just as hard to beat teams. It's down to the players to break that cycle

They have broke the cycle we are 5th after the regular rounds when in reality we should be bottom

Well the team have been brilliant this season but if they are going to make an impact this season from now then we have to impove significantly, I only say this comparing our form with the the othertop 8 teams this season, at home we have only beaten Salford and Huddersfield, away we took the points at Salford Wigan and Saints. Other than Saints our home defeats really could have gone either way. If we can continue to improve in shutting games down and match the other teams intensity to win (the experience of Leeds Saints et al) then this team can move to the next level. If we can get in the top 4 that would be amazing if we can improve on last year and get in the prize money that would be a fantastic end to a season where again our side was perceived as also rans by many!

Where is this figure from ?

Suppose only daddycool can answer this but that figure sounds very suspect to me. 70k is a lot to make from one game minus expenses I'd have thought.

I'd assume a home tie to be more valuable but I'd like confirmation that we have lost 70k in pure profit and it's the profit bit that matters.

We didn't get 6k on Sunday so unless we e lost Cas as a game and didn't get a new capacity of 10k I can't see it but as I say I'm probably wrong.

I can see how that figure might apply to Saints or Hull.

So we've beaten Salford twice, Huddersfield once, Wigan once and Saints once already. Repeat that feat in the next 7 games and we could quite easily finish in the top 4. There's absolutely no reason why we can't do it again.

We've got Wigan, Saints and Leeds at home who will all bring healthy away followings. We may have got an extra home game had we finished higher but two of those games could have been Salford and Huddersfield in which case the away followings would have been dire.

Obviously! I was pointing out our percentages so far if we can up that then we have a great chance, in particulr we have to close these home games down that was point.

I think DC's interview quoted £70 to £90k. But what does he know? I'll go with Vastman a014.gif
