Leigh could well beat us in a one off cup game, in fact it wouldn't surprise me one jot if they did given where both teams are mentally this season. They are a very good team at their level, playing full of confidence and with great spirit. We are the opposite. But if Leigh were to get promotion they would have to splash some serious cash and tear up their current squadt to be competitive, otherwise it would be a distant bottom place for them. That tends to wreck the team spirit straight away but so does losing every week. Given that the clubs are likely to vote in a marquee player cap allowance plus a home grown allowance the distance between the haves and have nots is going to grow. I have had a good look at your squad and in all seriousness wouldn't take many of them into ours. McNally is developing into a great FB, Kay and Higson are better wingers, Armstrong is one of the best centres in RL, our halves gel, we are blessed with a great mix of grunt in MoiMoi,Hopkins, Wilkes, Barlow, Hock, Acton, Spencer, Emmit, Walker, Beaumont plus our coach is very very good.
What we lack is that week in week out intensity of SL, but for a losing team that can be a negative also.
Regarding promotion, we are running with one import at present, I feel we would add 3 more in a total of 6 new players should we make SL - we have already given the vast majority of our squad SL contracts, thats why we are so settled.
