| We are going off subject. Plenty of threads to talk about Agar.
Take it up there.

| Quote: worksopwildcat "He wasn't the best candidate for the job in a million years - he was the one that was selected for the job by a person who reportedly was friends with him. Not one fan I met at the time wanted him and not one fan at Hull wanted him to stay at their club where he had been given more time than enough to achieve success. His CV at the time was one of failure - he has continued to add to his CV with failure at Wakefield and the utter debacle in terms of his coaching of the French side in the world cup where they were without doubt the team that out of the entire tournament performed the worst - way way below their potential.
As for the "who else would we attract" argument - well we would attract any coach in the UK who was currently coaching anywhere outside super league - coaching a super league club is a massive opportunity - not the poissen chalice some people perceive it to be.
Finally why the hell did he get a 3 year deal - for christs sake its not as if anyone else would want him - come on get real. If offered a one year rolling contract what do you think he would have said "no chance boys I am off to saints or leeds or wire". As for those that see MC as the second coming - well, - he does seem like a decent fella who has put a lot on the line for the club and fair play to him, however, that doesn't mean he is immune from making errors of judgement and in my opinion giving Agar a 3 year deal was an error - an avoidable one at that.'"
Who else applied and was "rejected" ?
There were rumours about a number of coaches at the time but, most of these were just the fans' wish list and not people who had actually applied for the post ?
We were in the brown stuff when Agar was appointed, not exactly a big draw, which is possibly why Powell didn't want to be considered, even though he was with Fev.
I agree with you on the 3 year deal but, of course, none of us are privy to how this was done and any get out clauses that may or may not exist.
Moving back on topic (sorry Pop Tart), Friday is a great chance for the fans to get behind the team and the one certainty is that, these games can change fortunes.
Not too many seasons ago we went to Cas, expecting to lose and absolutely smashed them.
Lets hope we can do the same on Friday.

| Though I don't think Agar is the man lets not get away from the fact his contract was extended and probably while Elstone and Glover had heads in sand.
As for MC don't shoot the bloke who took charge and pulled us out of the certain relegation to the lower leagues.Dont shoot the man who put his home on the line to save this club from extinction and correct me if Im wrong but his home is still at that same risk.Thats not the sign of a man who can accept failure its the sign of a man who belives he can turn things round.Unless one of us wins a big one on the lotto and puts some money or an investor/backer comes in then we have Agar like it or not.All we want on Friday is every player giving it his all and even if we don't win at least we have gone down with a fight.Lets face facts we have been here before defeat after defeat and then all of a sudden we pull one out of the hat and the rest of RL sit up and say "WHAT" where did that come from. Its never an easy ride being a Wakey fan in fact more ups and downs than a fun fair.
I will be on that corner of the north stand and east stand with the kids willing the boys on.

Fair post I have to say. I am not shooting the fella just saying that in my opinion a 3 year deal was certainly not earned by Richard.

Fair post too - I do agree that it is perhaps unfair on my part to start having a go about a 3 year contract when I have no idea as to the content of that contract.

| He is. On pain killers for ankle, with Webster Dorn and tansey missing I'm guessing Powell has made a decision to risk him. Bit worried about us at full back.

He must be worried. I'd have thought he could rest a few for our game.

We are looking very light in the backline...no Tansey, Dorn, Webster, Dixon, Gibson not in the squad and Gilmore still not in contention.
You guys should be more optimistic, I think it could be 6 point either way at F.T

I'd assume Tansey, Webster and Gibson are pencilled in for Monday.
Carney wouldn't play if he wasn't fit. Simple. Tansey would come in with Owen and Clare on the wings.

| I still fancy Cas Tigers, but as they say - anything can happen in a derby game.
WTW are getting desparate and their defence is alarming ATM but I still think this result will all depend on the reaction from the Tigers players after a dressing down by DP. Do they sulk or do they roll their sleeves up ?

Any chance of borrowing Powell to give our players a dressing down?? Someone needs to do it.
