| Ellis is hot property and highly sought after. However he prefers to stay where he is as he knows what the future holds.
Fev are a top 4 club with a multibillionaire backer. They are building the best ground in SL . They have massive potential for growth in that they tap into the vast conurbations of Knottingley and Ponte for their support.

| Was watching last years season DVD. Ellis have us clean quick ball from the floor which I'm not sure Aiton does.

| Just to add to the Aiton/Ellis should we have/have not kept Ellis well just imagine this Washbrook has not been the same player this year had we kept Ellis he could have played 9 and Aiton to 13 the best of both worlds.

Yeh, there was this bloke called John Kear who won the challenge cup with them, it was the second time he got a bunch of seemingly no hopers to win against the "big clubs". He went on to save some team from almost certain relegation from super league with a bunch of players he didn't sign. It was a miracle really. He then went on to turn this basement club with no finances whatsoever into a top six team. But he got sacked - don't know who replaced him but boy he must be a truly phenominal coach that will bring the team guaranteed success.......... Jesus - you couldn't make it up!

Yes the guy was a great coach once someone else had built his team.
However when he could buy his own players in came the likes of
Paul Cook
Tommy Lee
Jeremy Smith
And nearly the best... a geriatric Keith Senior.

The problem with that argument is that he had no budget whatsoever and had to cobble together a team from this type of player. Totally different situation. Its like sending the Mrs to Aldi with a fiver, your hardly going to be treated to a feast at dinner time! Whereas Agar has had the luxury of being able to sign top players.

TBF he did have a limited budget.

Agreed but maybe, just maybe Ellis comes with baggage.
Ellis is an orthorox hooker and you might ask could Aiton play at loose forward???
Maybe Ellis is someone you don't want causing trouble in one way or a another.

No matter how small your budget is you stay away from players of that calibre.
However the same small budget gave him a chance to sign a young winger from Huddersfield called McGillvary but he was adamant he would never be good enough.
He was also offered a young kid from Leeds called Ben James Bishop but refused him saying we had better players.
That kid went to London and had a great season.
JK was great coach but terrible on recruitment.

| I have my doubts about Agar he has a better team this year yet we will finish below 9th this is not good progression this is the best team we have had in years! I am not sure he is worth a new deal. I think he tries to be like one of the boys like he did at Hull. He singles players out he wants to single out i.e. Reece Lynn. I am not overly convinced by Richard Agar I think a change would be good????? Demetriou anyone?

So do you.
Why single out Lynne.
He is one that really has potential.
But then again I know nothing about Rugby League.

and yet this new coach, managed in his first season to get us into the top8, including a record 7 wins in a row. Remind me again what happened the year after that top 6 win with Kear. I was JK fan but he seems to get better to some fans the more time passes.

Will the 7 losses in a row that this season is likely to culminate with cancel out last seasons 7 game winning streak?!
With regards to Kear, I still think he is the superior head coach of the two, but his time at BV had run its course. He had begun making equally bizarre bench selections as Agar is doing now, and the was a real lack of evidence the players were actually being coached, much the same as this season. It took Kear 4-5 years to get to that stage, Agars done it in two.
Plus Kear had a substantially inferior squad to work with in his last season yet achieved only two less victorys than Agars squad of 2013 has.

Think there was a quote from Eddie Hemmings earlier in the season, that since 2006 Hull have been in 'the wilderness'. Gentle had a hit and miss first season but has got them to Wembley, has got some good young players to go with the established players and a few shrewd signings. I expect them to get better and better. To me he seems like a coach that knows what he is doing.

I still would have Ellis back if we had chance!
Are you being sarcastic with the other comment?
