raleigh, kirmond, wood, ex hudds.
Seems to me that that will be three players each if you count Murphy as George started at hudds and you can't can't moan about Tommy Lee as you wanted shut of him. Murphy won't shift Eden from full back and we will still be without O'donnell, Fa'alago and Mason who don't if i recollect come from wakey either. Oh and remember you paid Luke George more money to come to you from our academy so how he counts as a 'wakey lad' is beyond me he also played his amateur RL in Huddersfield.
Bookies in league weekly give you a 16.5 point start it will be close for 20 minutes then we will pull away !! Your best hope is to do what Saints did on Sunday and spoil and try to slow us down and I never ever thought I'd ever write that line.... Although John Kear pointed out saints tactics on RL full time wonder if your boys will watch the video ??'"
You forgot that Greg Eden was in our academy before he signed for Cas.

I can name you loads when we were down and out in the late 70's and 80's and when we got relegated from superleague Martin Gleeson and Chris Bridge to name two who were worth around £300,000 on the transfer market but because contracts were voided on relegation we had to let them go for nothing one to Saints one to the Bulls who also took Brandon Costin so stop painting just us as the bad boys we've all had our turns !!'"
No I'm not - what happened last season won't be easily forgotten by a lot of fans and as evidenced by your post, neither was it when it happened to you.
The manner of the raid on our promising youngsters by Shudds was unpleasant - we were down and your club kicked us; that's a fact.

| I'm struggling to understand why so many appear to give more of a toss about this game than most others? I reckon its partly down to the huddersfield lot trying to manufacture it into a proper rivalry on a message board because they have seen the genuine article between Wakey/Cas, Wire/Widnes, Wigan/Saints etc and they feel a bit left out, hence the stirring of the pot so they can feel a part of something.
Should we get stuffed on Sunday against this mob than I dare say most will feel no worse than when we got beat by FC last week, KR the week before or even Leigh away a few years ago on the telly.......

I think that's a fair point as far as it goes. However at some point it became more than that, though it has little to do with local rivalry. There was a period from about 2004 - 2009 where it became a humiliation due to no other reason than the large one sided scorelines, or worse the inability to keep a lead. This often at a time in the season when we were usually doing OK - year after year after year. This against a club that should never have been doing it to us, at no point have Hudds ever been a Leeds or Saints yet season after season they beat us far more convincingly than Leeds or Saints did. Yes you're right they have through the use of these forums attempted to create a false rivalry but boy have our previous teams and managers made it easy for them to look good.
I'd love us to treat it the same way we treat Hull or Wigan, but we don't. We are up for those games in a way we rarely are for Hudds. They have targeted us as a 4 pointer for years, prepared for it and succeeded. Whilst we dream of beating Leeds they are getting the points off us and we never seem to learn.
Maybe now that Hudds are at least on paper a superior side to us we may take this game at least seriously even if it's far from the grudge/derby matches we so enjoy with Leeds or Cas. Hudds are not our rivals and who cares about the bragging rights, what they have managed to make themselves is our bogey team - as Toppo used to say they have the hoodoo over us! That's bad enough in the League but imagine if it were a play off game or a CCup semi, it would matter then.
I just want the players to treat this game with respect - winning would be a bonus but losing not the end of the world. It's the fixture I hate, I rarely care about Hudds other than the week before we play them

| Honestly cant see us winning but aslong as the effort is there thats all im bothered about. I dont care what so ever how many wakey players they have as most of them obviously thought they were going on to bigger and better things, which so far they have, but i hope the way we are progessing it will turn out to be the wrong move for them.

Spot on Vatman but, you have to add to that all the cr@p that went on when Hudds fnshed bottom and were protected as a "development" club and the RFL were taing ponts off us for breach of salary cap and at the time it seemed like a case of protecting Hudds and trying damn hard to relieve us of Super League status.
This was fundamentally wrong, Hudds were not in anyway a development club, they just had a nice ground.
Although there were probably good reasons for the actions taken by the RFL, the Eagles appeared to get well and truly shafted.

That's just about spot on; I guess the hope is that the squad and the coach are sufficiently new that they won't really have the Kear culture of getting up for certain games in the season, then rolling over for others. Equally, Shudds won't have a hoodoo over this group of laikers, since they're a completely new group of laikers, so to speak.
Now, where's me 'aribo?

And you wont find one Giants fan that supported the RFL's decision to keep us in SL when it was plainly obvious to anyone we werent ready for it .....best thing they did do was eventually let us go down so we could regroup as a club and come back stronger which i think everyone agrees we did !.
Not one fan i know was happy to be kept up year after year it made a mockery of our sport at the time !.
