Totally agree. The Coach is probably the most important signing for next season and beyond but my point is that its not always about money although Wigan, Leeds etc. could out bid us anyway. Its about ambition and if you are someone like Peter Gentle who are you going to choose if its between us and Wigan.
We need to get the best coach we can and I agree we have to sell ourselves but we also don't have to be down hearted if another Club is chosen over us. |

Fair point, but it's not between us and Wigan is it? It's between us and some very similar clubs - Cas and HKR are hardly beating us in the glamour stakes.
We need to talk a good game - be honest about the past, but make sure people understand it is just that; emphasise the new owners, NM on the horizon, excellent commercial performance etc and really sell the opportunity to someone ambitious - they could be responsible for making our on-field rebirth as impressive and exciting as our off-field one. Confidence is infectious in my experience - get to the table, appear serious and put yourself in the game; if you take yourself seriously, others will too. |

In some ways I think the Wakefield job is the best available for a prospective coach.
If it is true that you will be spending much closer to the cap next year then you are likely to improve whoever is coach. Expectations will probably be realistic after this year and mid-table will possibly be seen as quite acceptable.
The new man will be smelling of roses.
Isn't that what 'good' coaches do? I mean take the right job at the right time when the dice is loaded in their favour. And then later, leave at the right time.
