| Could be lack of heart tbh, Tronc looked world class for the opening to the season but once the heart went he looked no better than Hickey. Offloads and yards stopped and he would have been labelled unfit if he'd started like that!
Greg Eastwood and Darren Fritz both looked a pudding but when they were focussed by God.
He needs a night out with a Lupset lass.

I hope we can get him in to shape and i hope he's not here for the money or another club if he gets fit.'"
I get the 6'6" from the fact that he's 6'6"!
As for you being a similar height, that has very little to do with it, it's height combined with his body composition and metabolism that causes so many BIG fellas (not just tall) to gain weight easily.
By the way, I don't like beer!

| Quote: bren2k "In fairness to Hickey, his 'beer' comment on Twitter doesn't look as bad if you understand the context; he was actually replying to a fellow player who asked how the game had gone and he said "highs and lows" then added a hashtag comment #thankgodforbeer.
That's very different to saying "I am getting bladdered after the game and have no respect for WTW, the fans or my fellow professionals."
So, whilst he does need to get dramatically fitter and fast, I don't necessarily blame him for telling Upton Cat to eff off; he was responding to a fairly personal attack - what was he supposed to say?
On another note - in my view, all players and staff should get themselves off Twatter and stick to text messaging each other; it almost never looks good on them or their respective club when their 'banter' is made public.
Take a look at Tommy Lee's feed to see another example by the way - some Cas idiot sledging him about how poop WTW are and how we'll never get a new stadium etc. Potty.'"
I agree, some of the things stated from WT 'employees' shouldn't be associated with the club.
Hickey has apologised for yesterday's tweet

I don't see why - I think Upton Cat would concur that he did say some pretty personal things to the man; I'm not sure what else he could have said in reply.
"You're right mate - I'm unfit, fat and am nicking your money; sorry about that."

You cannot seriously condone him using the F word to a supporter! There are plenty of alternative words in the English language to allow him to reply in a way which conveys his disagreement without having to use that language on a public forum.
Like it or not, players represent their clubs wherever they are and whatever they do and, to confirm the point, I would expect to be reprimanded if I swore at a customer in a public forum - it's wrong - end of.

I disagree, I follow most of them, generally most of them are the kids and it's refreshing to hear them being normal kids. I have inly tweeted them when they done good, that must help their self esteem or like stu going though is injury and telling fans how he is doing. But followers must realize, these are mostly kids, who are having to grow up before they should. Unlike a previous poster who wants this to stop, I for one dont. Both management and players can use this as a tool to get closer to fans, but fans have to remember these guys are young and only human

| Kear is at fault here for picking a player who is clearly well off getting to match fitness. You wouldn't see any other coach in SL putting him straight into the 17. What sort f message does this send to the rest of the squad and those promising youngsters!
Hickey has alot of promise, and given time i'm sure he'll prove to be an astute signing, but Kear hasn't helped the guy. He should have had to work hard for a spot in the team

I agree with you but I feel that the players do need to think carefully with what they post but overall I think is good that they communicate with the fans.

Many people use twitter (and facebook) in place of email and therefore send out 'personal' messages and thoughts to all and sundry, this is the cause of some of the problems.

| The problem with fans following players on twitter or being 'friends' on facebook is that it requires some thought and self control things that are not always in abundance straight after a game. If the players are happy to be followed on twitter then they should be expecting to cop a bit of grief when things are going badly. On the other hand if supporters are given the players personal abuse then they should also expect to get a less than favourable response. Personally I'd ban them from using both but that's just me.
