Southernwood is a promising talent but at the moment is too small to cut it at super league level. If we or any other team put him into the first team then he would be targetted.

Depending on what we can get in ruturn i wouldn't be bothered either way if he stays or goes.

Never seen Southernwood so cant really comment but would you also say Rob Burrow is too small to cut it at SL level

cain southernwood was offered a fantastic deal for a youngster last season, bearing in mind hed never played sl. whether he got bad advice from his agent or his dad is debatable but he turned round and said cas or leeds will pay more. hed not been there 2 minutes and was trying to call the shots and he didnt realise a fee would have to be paid. so the club with him showing he didnt want to be there withdrew the offer he refused to sign. was taken off by the coaches a few times last season as he wouldnt play to instructions and was more interested in himself. the lad coming in is a fantastic prospect who can play fb or half back and if hes looked after will do a great job for the club. he came through the scholarship at wakefield but ended up at bradford. it may not look it at the moment but we have the best deal on this.

you obviously have met him then ? If he was chocolate he would eat himself, Arrogance is fine if you are Shaun Edwards who was a top class first teamer at 17 ! anything else is not.

The deal has just been confirmed on radio 5 Live, no mention of a player coming our way in return

He's a decent young player but given his position I can see why we've let him go to you as we've a glut of full backs in the squad who are better than him.

sounds a very versitle player, can play full back, wing and both half back roles according to JK on our website

Seems a good deal - having no idea on how good either player is -getting rid of someone who wants to be elsewhere in favour of someone who is more advanced in terms of getting into the 1st team.

My only concern is that good quality British halves are as rare as rocking horse poop and Southernwood does look like he has the potential to become one of those.

I think he has a big future in the game and while to be fair I know little of Hyde he will have to be a very good player to be worth releasing Southernwood for.
