Surely they can of both clubs consent? Take the well publicised signings of Turry Newton, Glen Morrison, Ricky Bibey etc for next year for example.

wouldnt they have one after the season had finished? with games due to be played what would happen if they gained serious injury? i dont know how stringent rugby medicals are but i doubt one player would have one the day after a game and one the day before!

Good point, but I can't see us signing what you would assume to be big money players such as Tronc and Morrison without us checking for our self that they are in good working order. But then I suppose that throws up what happens if you sign a player for next season and he injures himself for his current side before swapping sides? Can you get insurance?

i would have thought so or they would have something in place within the contract, just the medical a day before/after a game seems soft to be honest

I recall watching a NRL game back in 2008 where the commentator said Peterson was out with a hip injury.
