The rumours re
3 year in SW France in the sun or 3 year in West Yorks, its a good starting point for a debate.

As for the original poster, Cool4Kats, FFS get a grip. Those of us in the Kear Out Brigade (as you call it) have done nothing but provided reasoned arguments as to why he should go. There have also been suggestions as to who might come in and coach etc...
Whilst the only reason those in the keep Kear brigade can come up with, is there's no one better !!! Anybody who has seen the teams performances over the last couple of months, would have difficulty convincing me that anyone could do any worse.'"
The keep Kear brigade (as you call it) have given various reasons as to why Kear is not solely to blame for our current situation. They have also pointed out that history and the restraints of the club suggests that these problems will not simply disappear by a change of coach. From where I'm sitting both sides are making reasoned arguments while both are also misguided in some of their offerings. The suggestions for the new coach include Poching, Jowitt and JD, I can hardly wait for that to happen! I ask again do you trust Ted and co to appoint the new coach? Also what exactly do you expect from this new coach i.e what is the minimum you are looking for from a Wakefield Trinity as a club and a team?
Quote: Tricky2309 " My loyalty is to the entity Wakefield Trinity and not to the coach. We are in the most crucial stage of our history and Kears actions have destabilised us no end. I keep hearing people say he is one of the only good things about the club and a key part of our franchise application credibility - well sorry but thats garbage - everyone in RL knows he wants out - so the fact we still have him in place IMO actually damages our application (particularly as the by products of his continued employment are gash performances and reduced attendances).'"
Everyones loyalty is to Wakefield Trinity and we all want to see us prosper in a new stadium within SL. How anyone can accuse Kear of destabilising the club is beyond me given that he has presided over the clubs most stablisied period in SL. Again he has made mistakes but this is not one of them.
Quote: Tricky2309 " It takes balls to make a decision for the better of the club, its actually far easier to look back to what Kears done in the past and maintain the status quo.
'"
The flip side is that it's and simplistic to say sack the coach that will sort it out, it takes balls to stick with a coach who has improved the club and raised it's ambitions but has had a poor season. You cannot dwell on the past as some do but then equally you cannot just erase it as others do.

The problem is you will not get that because for 1, we cannot afford to get rid of the entire coaching team and the majority of the squad and 2, more importantly there is no real chance of a change a boardroom level. The best we will get is Kear gone replaced on the cheap and we'll all be back here in 8/10 months time in the exact same situation.

I expect the players wearing the club shirt to have been given a gameplan that equates to more than 5 drives and a kick. Some of the things we see week in week out don't even cover the basics that kids are being taught
Now is crunch time and the impact his trying to leave and the poor performances put out by his team and his inability to address the same issues that reoccur all the time, are making our franchise application look much weaker. There was a view that last time around, they couldn't kick us out because we were performing well on the field - the number of drubbings we are getting affect that side of things and the poor fare on offer affects the crowds so going backwards on two fronts
The flip side is that it's and simplistic to say sack the coach that will sort it out, it takes balls to stick with a coach who has improved the club and raised it's ambitions but has had a poor season. You cannot dwell on the past as some do but then equally you cannot just erase it as others do.'"
If the current coach is unable to sort out the issues as seems to be the case based on the current evidence, then I believe there is no detriment to changing the coach - if you are already at rock bottom the only way is up. Kears previous seasons have all involved a 7 or 8 match loosing slump so it is an issue that has always been there, but now the amount of losses are increasing dramatically and performance levels are way below what is acceptable

Do we need to get rid of the whole coaching staff though? As far as I am aware JK does not interfere with Tony Drury and look at his success, but as for everybody else surely its Kears coaching methods what are in place carried out by Broadbent and co. The club had the chance to let him go with the dignity the man deserves and for the limited ammount of success weve had under him, but no as with Brough they were blinded by the £ signs, and unfortunately the senario I said might happen is now gathering momentum, as I and a lot more pro Kear posters on here are beginning to think its time to go and if his position becomes untenable because of the feeling against him then we will have the ludicrous situation where by we will have to pay him off. As for the boardroom they alone along with the coach who must have had some imput into the Brough saga must take full responsibility for the collapse in our season, its not my style to criticise players on here but surely had there not been a few quid on the table for Brough he would have stayed till the end of the season instead they brought Paul Cooke in presumably on the say so of the coach to replace Brough,
could not give a toss if he's a different type of player he was still brought in to replace him and it hasnt worked out. For those what says his heart would not have been in it, surely a half hearted Broughy would have won us a couple of those games that we just could not manage, and the optimism would still be there for a top 8 play off place, for me the above mentioned have quite a lot to answer for.

It was you who said we needed a clean sweep I assumed that meant the lot of them. It seems we are destined to go round in circles on this one and be unable to agree. What I am sure of is simply replacing Kear will not make as much of a change as people seem to think. Just look back at the coaches we've had in SL, think about their records, think about who has replaced them, think about the standard of the rugby, think about the finances involved, think about the attendances, think about how much has changed over the 11 years we have been in SL and if after weighing all that up you still think a change of coach is a way forward for us then fair enough.

The thing is I used to think the same as you regarding Kear, maybe its because I associate mainly with anti Kear fans and I am being brainwashed by them, but I am finding it increasingly difficult to put forward a genuine argument against what they are saying, and I find myself rightly or wrongly having to agree with most of what they are saying wheras on the other hand I and the pro Kear fans are not coming back with a reasonable response other than to quote past coaches who has not done as well as JK. I would love to see JK pull it round for us and for him personally, unfortunately atm I dont see it happening I refuse to go into all that crap about how much I spend watching them each season or how many hundreds of years I've watched them but at the moment my enthusium for the club is at a very low ebb, and its certainly not the fans fault or the players.

You see I have it the other way as in all the lads I go to the game with are reluctant to get rid of Kear due to the fear of who and what might replace him. It's not just about the past coaches who have failed it's about the financial restraints as well and about changing aspirations. Who on a similar budget to ours has a better record than us over the last few years?
I have to disagree about the players they must shoulder some of the blame.
When all's said and done whichever way it turns out let's just hope it results in a new stadium and a future in SL.

Operating on a limited budget means you have to make compromises when putting together a squad. Seeing Waine Pryce play last night reminded me that we actually signed him and puts the current squad in a whole different light in comparison.

I know.
My post was in response to a "its not Kears fault that....." comment, simply offering a few suggestions for issues that may be Kears fault.

I see, you were saying it's Kears fault that we have the best quality squad we've ever had in SL? Fair enough.
I mean, Waine Pryce!

Wasn't white on the other wing with him at one point?? I suggest a poll, worst wing pairing we've had in SL, White and Pryce or Blanch and Gleeson

I was saying, as I am guessing you probably know, was that when our on field performance and our recruitment doesn't work then the bloke responsible for on field performance and recruitment carries the can.

I also thought about this when I saw Pryce the other night. A few seasons back the majority of our players left and went to championship clubs now they tend to leave for SL clubs suggests at least that we are signing/making better players we just can't hang on to them!
