| Quote: ry21 "How much difference would it make to the speed of the PI if the stadium were to be funded by us and didnt rely on the Yorkcourt development? Would this greatly improve the chances of it being approved quicker as the stadium alone isn't such an issue? Perhaps we could share the stadium with a football team who helps with the financing of it? Just a guess.'"
Wouldn't make an iota of differance.

Depends on wether or not you frequently visit the niche online "oiled up Ted Richardson in a leopard skin thong" site.

What Khlav said... in fact, even less than an iota!

| I think I would have been more inclined to go had it been down at Belle Vue. Can't help thinking that the club has Gilded the Lily with about 10 coats! The Lily might actually be a dandelion!
I'll check out the messageboard in the morning to see how much discount I'll be getting off my 2012 season ticket.

| Our informant who says £250K for Academy & £750K for stadium might not have this 100% correct!
Maybe the £750K is the purchase price to buy back Belle Vue?
Second part of this announcement is the temporary development of our existing ground to satisfy the RFL in the short term pending our move to NM.

That would be the supreme irony, that we finally upgrade Belle Vue to Super League standards and then leave.

| Quote: Khlav Kalash "Perhaps the newly submitted travel plan has a connection to tonight’s meeting.
I don't think so, but glad to see this has been sorted and now submitted to planning and one assumes the planning inspector. This was something that needed sorting Khlav before the inquiry.
This is good news everyone and is another thing on the Newmarket site sorted and removes issues that three statutory authorities required more information on, so effectivley this only leaves the issue of reaching a resolution, well best possible compromise position because they will never give in totally, with Natural England/WYE.
It looks like Yorkcourt have reached agreement in principal with the Highways Agency, Wakefield Council Highways (and the Police in respect of traffic enforcement) and Metro in respect of public transport.
A quick summary is that Metro/Aviva will run match-day special shuttle buses for every match from Wakefield (bus station and both railway stations). They even state that for Castleford and Leeds matches, they will probably run match day specials directly from Leeds and Castleford centres to the stadium. Also, Yorkcourt/Stadium management company have agreed on a five year marketing funding plan to promote the travel plan to the tune of £85k, they won't be free (the buses) but this money will be used to 'advertise' the services.
It also looks like Metro are happy with existing services buses having the capacity to serve the site in general, but will of course will increase them if required.
They have clearly satisfied the Highways Agency that the existing strategic road network would easily cope with match-day traffic, so that is them sorted.
Finally, they have agreed to implement a 1.5km parking exclusion zone around the stadium and even agreed the streets to be restricted with the Police and Wakefield Highways to residents only on match days.
Reading between the lines, I also suspect that a car-parking charge will be made to all fans wishing to park in the stadium car park. The idea being to make it cheaper for most home fans to walk, use public or the special transport or park outside the exclusion zone and then walk. As for away fans then the charge will be such that you probably won't mind parking if you have a car-full, which most away fans probably do or indeed they will also park outside the exclusion zone and walk.
I think this is a big box that needed formally ticking, now being duly ticked!
So, given that Leeds City Council are unlikely to drop their objection for political reasons that means when a 'compromise' agreement with Natural England/WYE is reached then it will be just LCC left!

| Total of 1,288 car park spaces available too, that's quite a lot even when you deduct 300 for employees, officials, sponsors & disabled.

True but it would only be a temporary measure to appease the RFL with regard to our offering a better facility for supporters in the interim period.
IMO this compromise is made possible because of two main reasons:
1. our Junior development is too valuable to put at risk hence the RFL requesting that we DO NOT vacate the Wakefield area even temporarily.
As soon as they asked us not to go to Oakwell they then couldn't punish us for not having a SL standard Stadium as part of our franchise bid. That then opens up the possibility of a temporary make over of Belle Vue as a compromise.
2. The dire situation of Crusaders painted the RFL into a corner, there is absolutely no way that the RFL can make a case for excluding any other club in favour of Crusaders, not even the expansion card will bridge the credibility gap of that decision!
I think the July decision will be for a 15 or 16 team SL.
The RFL will cite the unprecedented financial climate of the last 3 years as their reason for leniency with regard to Salford, Wakefield & Castleford.
To avoid any adverse action being taken by either Widnes or Halifax there will be a route into SL for both, obviously we know that Widnes will come up and Halifax will either get the nod as well or they will be told (possibly privately) to be on standby should Crusaders go out of business.

Yep, 800 at the stadium and 488 additional match day spaces to be made available within the lease agreements with the employment uses. I also notice that they have agreed that car occupancy will have to be 3 people or more per car or they will not be allowed to use any of the on-site car-parking (I assume staff and sponsor/corporate spaces within the 300 will be ticket only and not number restricted). So, that is on-site parking for just short of 3000 spectators based on 3 per car and just short of 4000 based on 4 per car. That will be by far the best in Super League, not forgetting the large coach parking area for away coaches!
