Quote: financialtimes "It this level how come they are influencing the ref? Surely only in a final the "officially appointed" touch judges can give decisions other than the ball going in to touch? not all games have touch judges appointed in the rounds/semis so not a level playing field for all teams Still find it distasteful that junior officials get so much abuse from grown men and women . If you still are raw enough to bring it to a forum I think you need to be taking to it committee who appoint these voulenters

It's years ahead of a half cut dad with no knowledge of the rules and an agenda or being acussed of one.

It's not made any easier when the crowd pay more attention to them than the game and the "TM" does nothing and at some clubs are the worse thinking the yellow vest gives them a green light to run on the pitch.
I know that's not you rob but I'm sure you have come across and in sport you have to be guided by the ref , he is right OK he is right..

I hope thats not aimed at me icon_eek.gif
All I asked was if touchies could give decisions other than going in to touch in an ordinary round of a cup game, a simple "Yes" or "No" from someone in the know would have sufficed icon_wink.gif

would be amazed if sally nook get within 40 points of you, the standard in kirklees is very poor at yr 7 and sally nook are not the top team, they are good at yr 10 but weak at other age groups

No problem with the post but coaches, players, and touchline managers are volunteers referees are paid to do a job and there is where the problem lies and I've seen it with my own eyes some officials see it has an easy way to make a few quid.

Catch 22 unfortunately, the situation seems to be we need X number of refs to cover all the games or they don't go ahead and the quality suffers because on the necessity. The young lads in charge more often than not dont have the confidence to communicate clearly with the players and therefore control the game, and unfortunately there are cases of clear bias occasionally as I've seen this year. I'd happily ref our own games every week if it were allowed.

I appreciate the difficult situation and the need for young refs to develop, but I also think some are there just for a few quid , and a better option than a paper round. The best match official around is Gareth from Leeds society, great at communicating with the players and 100% calls it as he sees the game.

The worst refs I've seen this year have been adults not kids and in the defence of youths, they are still learning and bound to make mistakes, worst of all is Mr Chippendale from Leeds society, actually seen him give tries from the half way line as he's that far behind play and unable to keep up.
Maybe the likes of him with his experience would be better off on the sidelines as a mentor to the younger ones a046.gif

I understand that Hunslet beat Cas Panthers in the U14's final, 22-10.

Cas Panthers really ought to have won their game against Hunslet, at 10 - 6 up with about 15 minutes to go Cas ran out of steam and Hunslet slipped through some tired defence and scored two soft tries to take a 16 - 10 lead. In the dying seconds Hunslet scored another try due to tired defending and eventually won by 22 - 10, a score line which flattered them.

The U13s game was an entertaining match with two teams evenly matched but very different in their style of play. Criggleston got off to a flying start with JD scoring two 50 yarders and it looked as though East Hull would get blown away.

East Hull were a very well drilled team in both attack and defence and had their own stand out player at Loose Forward. Where The All Blacks had more strike players East Hull played some superb team rugby and had organisation and shape in attack way beyond their years.

18 - 18 at full time and then Crigg took control with some superb approach play finished off by Jack Duggan who ended with four tries to his name.

Very entertaining match with loads of ability and Tallent on show.

A good summary of both games which were very entertaining and very competitive and well worth the entrance fee.

Really proud of the panthers effort and but for a serious injury to the panthers full back I still feel they could have got back into it against a very fit and fast hunslet side.

Congratulations to crigglestone who proved just too powerful for a well drilled and talented east hull side who can also be proud of there effort.these two sides set the standard for there age group and it will take a very good teàm to beat either in there respective leagues. icon_thumb.gif

All the games yesterday were really entertaining, well worth the £3 entrance fee.
Very different from last years finals days were there were a number of walkovers.
Thought the Cas Panthers lads were going to pull of a shock and they may have won it if it wasn't for the full back going off (BTW that sounded a really nasty injury hope the lads OK) the Hull v Crigg game was another really entertaining game with the result in doubt until extra time, both teams made a terrific advert for the junior game, the Siddal v wests game was closer than the score gives the impression of and a great first cup for Siddal team. the last game of the day Crigg 17's v Lock lane was another nail biter and close with only 2 points in it at the end shame for any team to loose by such a close margin when putting in that kind of effort.
I think Yorkshire (and generally west yorks) is producing some fine young talent and the game at an amateur level in the district of Wakefield has never been as strong IMHO
Well done to all the teams’ yesterday winners and losers, it's no mean feet getting to a county cup final, something I never achieved in my limited youth career. icon_cheers.gif
