They are terrible. Are they a joke?

Have to chuckle at all this spleen venting over what is basically the inclusion of the Fluer de lis within the shirt design. Was it two seasons ago that the shirt was the worst ever because the blue/red band didn't go all the way round the back?
How profitable we must be when up until the next season "everybody" has been spending hundreds of pounds on replica shirts. I haven,t bought a replica shirt for about 3 seasons but will probably purchase both of these as I think they're worth holding onto for the heritage link. The last one I got was the thick blue/red hoops for the same link with our history.

Good to see the favourable comments from many neutrals with no axe to grind on the totalrl forum too.

Who's got an axe to grind, I simply object to being called a whinger, a moaner and that I'm negative just because I don't like the new design.

And yes I spent that amount last year, 2 coats, 2 shirts, 4 different polos, T-shirts, a hoody, a zip up top, a scalf and 2 wooly hats. I'm sure I'm missing some stuff off the list.

I'll sell you the lot for £100 all mainly 2XL

Replica shirts are revenue, simple as. Unfortunately, designing them should not be left to middle-aged accountants, as you end up with a minus figure in the revenue column.

Shirt buyers fall into three categories:
1. Those who buy regardless of the design (and to be fair, there have been much worse than this - was it the home shirt of 2007 or 2008, with the light blue bits?)
2. Those who buy to support the club, provided they like it
3. Those who don't buy, but now and again a strip comes along that is just so good .....

The club has blown revenue from the 2 and 3.

If MC looked at the new Hull FC strip, he'd see how to do it: a recognisable brand, simply stated and steeped in history. As someone said on the VT (Khav?), if he'd stopped at the red and blue bands on the white, he has a fantastic kit. But he got giddy when someone said, "and we can put a background on it".

Marketing-wise, a good idea, root it in the city, but visually, it is horrible. But cue lots of tweets from MC moaning about opinions on the shirts.....

This whole thread is so subjective it's bizarre! Slugger, how do you know that there aren't a lot of people who fall precisely in to categories 1 and 2?? Just because you don't like them doesn't mean that no one else does and there may well be people who think the new kits are indeed "just so good". Guess we'll have to see how sales go. In the meantime, fans have two options - buy or not buy. I like them and will consider getting both but I fall in to another category - I'll buy one to support the club so long as I don't look a total scrote in it!!

How much over 100? 101? It'd be interesting to see how many pre ordered on previous launch days.

I'm just hoping the other two shirts and the merchandise are going to be worth buying.

You should think yourselves lucky that MC did design it; it could've been the muppets at xblades!
Yours is just rubbish whereas our home kit & training range is truly awful!

Surely given it is one of the clubs key revenue streams, it would be better to put three designs forward for both home and away and let the fans vote for their preferred option and then chose the ones with the most votes. That way those who will buy the shirts to support the club will still buy and those who will be more discerning about what they look like, will buy in a higher volume.

New shirts seem to be getting alot more positive reviews on the totalrl forum curtain.gif

I will be getting the home one, although can't help but think they should have just done the fleur de lys pattern on the white and left out the faded wildcat on the horizontal bands eusa_think.gif

The interesting thing ere would be to find out when the critics of the new shirts actually bought one and how many of this group would buy one if they were of different design/quality.
Many of the posters on here are of an age when perhaps replica shirts are no longer their thing and that they just add their critique, even though they wouldn't buy a shirt.

If the vote took place on this forum, there would only be a positive response to the "adidas" shirt which they would never want to change !

Having said that, the club are missing a trick by not having a "traditional shirt for some of our older "viewers".

And what if that number doesn't suit your agenda? Do you want to know how many of the shirts ordered were full price adult size? icon_smile.gif
