No, never looks nice.
Anyway, the last time I saw them play, they were in blue and white hoops.

| Quote: Slugger McBatt "It's not the million quid that's the issue maybe. £750K into something that is already funded would not excite me too much, as it would not bring the development any closer, and the club would not own the stadium. It's the fruition of a stadium that is the issue, not who will contribute towards it if it ever gets approved. The £250K into the academy would excite me more, due to the impact on the team and the franchise.
So build up the academy? Very good. A promise to donate something towards a project that isn't approved, is a long way from being started (in franchise terms), and won't be owned by the club perhaps doesn't deserve the billing. And to be fair, it isn't the people on here who have given it the billing that it has been given. The Yorkcourt angle is probably the most important part, and I think the poster has got the announcements in the wrong order, as it might be more like a big Parkin/stadium/Yorkcourt announcement, with the academy and stadium donation as part of the package( ie, part of the final detail not the main accouncement). A bit like when you buy a new house and they promise to throw in an upgraded kitchen and new carpets, and pay your legal fees.'"
Maybe thats not NM but BV.

Saw a Cas fan in a Fax shirt last night at BV.

Now, that would excite me. I know it's not the best part of town, and parking is bad, but I'd rather have a Belle Vue that satsified the RFL than anything else.

Belle Vue would do for me, buy A bit of land from old power station, turn it into a car park, charge a small parking fee, then they can walk to ground...

Point one - NM is very much still on the cards.
Point two - there is still a way to go and things change all the time. Old funding is taken away and new funding becomes available. You can only base your budgets on what is available at the time, but you have to be able to adapt as time moves on - and nearly 3 years has moved on so far. I'm not saying that is what any funding would be for (nor that I even know that this is anywhere near the truth) but if it is needed and is put forward, then we should be gratious and accept is a being yet another step towards our holy grail.
SWAG may be quiet these days, but it's still there and still lobbying - and the goal remains the same. Let us hope that whatever the announcement tonight it is something that will increase our chances of SL survival and the deliverance of our new home!

That's what I meant about the announcements as laid out by the Cas poster (and I think he was the one who was bang on about Newmarket) being the wrong way round. None of the three things outlined by him would bring a stadium any closer, but a big Yorkcourt announcement could, and the "plus extra funding towards it" and "plus more money for the Academy" would make it a good night.

The annals of club history are not littered with big announcements, at least not if you discount new signings, so from that point of view, the competition for biggest announcement in the club's history probably isn't that stiff.
There was the "Pearman 1 million", of course...

| Arguably, if there was no movement on NM, there would be no need to make any announcement on any funding for it, as it may all change again in 6 months time.
That being said, if NM had moved on significantly, surely info would be available via the relevant authorities. and surely someone would have caught on since the original announcement.
Whatever it is, hats off to team WT for keeping it so hush hush for so long.
I would award us a franchise just for that.

| How much difference would it make to the speed of the PI if the stadium were to be funded by us and didnt rely on the Yorkcourt development? Would this greatly improve the chances of it being approved quicker as the stadium alone isn't such an issue? Perhaps we could share the stadium with a football team who helps with the financing of it? Just a guess.

Yes Mr Pearman, yes that went Pearshaped
I got an email from him around 4 years ago, following on from something I wrote on the internet. He seemed to view his involvement with the club with some fondness and nostalgia, and some regret that he is no longer involved, as if it was an adventure that went sour for him.
