| Looks like Eckersley can forget being in the squad for the autumn internationals after today’s game if we hold him to the same standard as Max.

Again....no one is saying he had a bad game or that he was to blame for the tries. Just that 1% plays like that are what Wane looks for. It makes a difference
Jowitt did plenty of 1% plays like clearing up the kick that saved Myers bacon (for example) should’ve dealt with it. You could just as easily say that Wane would look for exactly that. Jowitts game is full of 1% plays and efforts. It’s easy to see them watching games back which I do a few times after the live match just to see how players have performed. Anyway, I think Max would surprise you in the England set up if he was given the chance. I just have more confidence in him I guess that he would thrive on that stage, some players do and I could see Max being one of them. We can agree to disagree, We may never find out who will be right unless he pulls an England shirt on. Whether he gets opportunity is another matter but that’ll be up to Wane. I’d guess Wane will have bigger problems at the moment though like the forwards he’s picked at Wigan like Harvard, Nsemba etc that are getting smashed week in week out and looking to play themselves out of the chance.

| Anyway, That was Corey Halls best game as a professional, outstanding work rate, great anticipation when cleaning up behind the line where one play saved a certain try when Croft kicked through twice. Defended brilliantly and looked threatening with footwork, always looking for a way to breach the Rhinos defence. He’s improving all the time with every game

| The lad standing next to me nearly fainted when the East Stand and NE terrace corner, started a couple of Wakefield chants.
It was good support all night, but as soon as we equalised near the end, it went up a level. And when that drop goal went over, absolute pandemonium. What an atmosphere.
Long drive home, but was still buzzing, and had to watch the highlights before going to bed!

I thought we won but looking at some of the posts it sounds like we lost. What does it matter who played and how all that counts is the final score. With regards the internationals Wane will select the usual even if they are currently not even guaranteed to be fit to play. I see he is at tonight’s game I wonder if he crossed the Pennines yesterday to see our game live.
Give it a rest, we just beat the inform team at presents and we got fans picking out Wakefield players to have a go at .Got to admit four of the last 5 trys we have conceded have been down to defending on our own line .,but if we notpericed this ,so will the Coaches .But after a performance like last night ,how any fan can come on here and knock the team is unbelievable .Waiting for the ,only reason we won was because Bentley took out Conner with a fist I think you need to read my post again then come back. Scarlet Pimpernell sorry if text came across wrong ,but was agreeing with you ,so many post knocking players after a great win .

I agree. I've always been a fan and not really sure how Rovers and Cas didn't get the best out of him but we are certainly seeing it now.I know he's working closely with Shenton and that is clearly paying off. He has a massive future ahead of him. It's ridiculous to think he's only 22.

Never said you said he had a bad game, I`m questioning your comparison of Welsby or Hardaker being in the same position and not letting him score, not sure how you come to that conclusion.

Until Max stops bottling the high pressure games, he won’t be getting that England shirt.
Go on then, what exactly did Max 'bottle'? Crazy comment isn’t it. Max who was faultless under high ball and took every one under pressure even. Put in a cracking pass to send Walmsley in, cleared up danger a few times clearing the ball with pressure from oncoming chasers. Good defence and poked his nose through the line a few times running back. A display like that is more likely to get Wane to notice him. The way he moves players in defence and manages the line is excellent. It’s not a crazy comment. In high pressure games vs the Hull clubs and Saints he’s often lacked concentration in key points or missed an easy kick. Don’t get me wrong he’s a SL quality fullback but tonight his defence on the try line was weak, something that’d get even more exposed against the Aussies. Even commentators said it wasn’t Jowitt. Jowitt held O Connor up and covered ball at same time. What were the other two players doing? I feel it’s any excuse to jump on Max and there’s some ready to go in with the knives. He’s not going to go through the season faultless and even the best fullbacks in the NRL and SL done do that. It’s doesn’t stop them getting on the international scene but for Max it’s seemingly not okay for it to happen at all or it’s a big deal. Like I said I think Max is a SL quality fullback and he’s gone very well for this season, just that I can also see why Wane might not be picking him for England yet. Nothing to do with going with knives jeez. I don’t think Max is international class either, he’s not in the same league as Welsby in my opinion. I really like Max, I think he’s a cracking SL player and is the current top point scorer for a reason. However, I felt he did deserve a call up to the larger squad but obviously Wane sees it differently. I will be very very confident of seeing Johnstone and big Mike representing us in the ashes. You say he's a cracking SL player and did deserve a call up to the larger squad, but say he's not in the same league as Welsby? That's a tad strong I feel! We all have our opinions but keep them in proportion! If he deserves to be in the squad he can't be far behind Welsby ! FWIW I think Max is a better team player and prolific points scorer. Welsby is brilliant at doing individual plays. They're both top drawer I think.

He is a cracking SL player, he did deserve a call up to the squad in my opinion, as after Welsby there isn’t a better english SL out and out FB in my opinion, whilst also been a world class kicker. Unfortunately there’s levels to anything in life, Max isn’t on the same level as Welsby, who’s clearly proven on the international stage. Just like Newman isn’t in the same universe as Farnworth, yet is still in the squad. As said previously by I think Poptart, he needs to show his class and actually dominate against the class teams ie KR, St’s Wigan. Welsby has won 4 grand finals, a world club challenge and captained his country by 23. I think in a nut shell Welsby is way ahead of max at FB, our international coach obviously thinks that too.

It’s taken on a bit more significance after Hull beat Wigan and Cas beat Warrington today! Hull are at home vs Huddersfield next and I can’t see the Giants getting anything there and Warrington are home to Sts which will be a difficult game
Could not see shudds getting owt against Hull at magic but they did, 2 totally unpredictable teams, would not back either team with your money never mind mine, did you really expect them to beat Wigan yesterday ?, Wire lost again today and were lucky to beat Salford, hope they beat Saints and do us a big favour but I somehow doubt it. I did tell you, so unpredictable those 2, personally fwiw I think the officials at both the Hull games robbed us of 4 points but at least from a personal point of view shudds gave us a leg up.
