Jowitt's errors alone were not the catalyst for the poor start ! most of the team were poor so to single him out is not really fair is it?
He was out of position, playing his first game of the season at SL level and needs support not destructive, inaccurate criticism.

I don't agree with MP that it was all on him but the disrupted side was targeted and failed. He does need to be better to keep that place but he did get better in the game so he deserved at least 1 if not a number of games to get it right.
You can guarantee Hastings will target him too.

If an experienced wing became available it would put a lot of pressure on Max.

Arndell to wing- Bill has to play Centre if fit

Why would you play a centre on the wing when Bill has played in both positions?

because he is way more likely to beat players and set up opportunities than Arndell

He has scored when playing on the wing. The opposition will be just as scared of him there! Also it would mean that the defence on that edge would be watching Bill and opening the space for Joe Arundel.

Arundel hasn't got the pace to play wing

The difference being Jowitt has played many 1st team games. He knows what he needs to do, he shouldn’t be a rabbit in the headlights anymore. His errors put us out of reach in the 1st half which ultimately led to us losing the game. Don’t get me wrong I like Jowitt and you don’t get rookie of the year for nothing but it really was a massive fail.

Tom and Bill were no better when conceding that late try v Hull KR a few weeks back and they both are well up to speed at 1st team level.

How many of those "many 1st games" has he played on the wing??
I'm not saying he didn't make errors or they were entirely down to that positional swap but some consideration needs to be given to the fact that :
a) It was his first appearance of the season
b) He was in an unfamiliar position
c) The player inside him was also making a first appearance of the season

Lots of factors why he didn't make a blistering start. As someone else said above the whole team were lacklustre in that first half, not just him and as they all improved, so did Max.
As in most games, the difference between winning and losing is not entirely the fault of a single player. It's a team game and the whole team have to take a share of the responsibility.

Indeed it was, but also a very basic catch from Hampshire led to one as well. Just looking at our options and i would still go with him as my favoured one.
