| Quote: Tommy Duckfingers "Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that once he goes into the pack all will be cured - he has work to do and improvement is required, clearly. Thing is, he cannot be reasonably judged on his form to date in the halfs - let him have a run in the pack and then make the call. Till such time plenty on here need to keep their powder dry and if he still performs to the same level then they can all get the Kleenex out and rejoice they where right all along.'"
If only he was a 'trier' and tackled a lot he'd get credit. If he had an Aussie accent. Cooke is what he is, very hard to play behind a pack offering no room or time, regardless of whether you are Paul Cooke, Danny Brough, Geoff Bagnall, Brad Davis...

Too right he would he'd get credit for trying, too right he's bone idle and not interested.
Not in the same league as those 3, he may have been 5 years ago but at least they would have tried.

The amazing thing is 3 years ago you Robins thought he was the best thing since sliced bread - Playing for his boyhood team - maybe it aint anything to do with Wakey being a shower - He Loves you Red and White Shower so he aint going to give his all is he

Although a lot of Hull fans wont agree.
I have said many times that he is a Hull FC Legend because of 2005 but why you think it is a shame the way things are going for him I find hard to believe - People have choices Hull = Hull KR = Wakefield - if you have a chance take it dont be a lazy . He is a gonner. Barman me thinks

| the guy needs to get out of wakey and never come back the guy is long past it. the guy has never been a play maker and never will be. everyone may say he was the one pulling the strings at hull when they won the cc 2005 but he didnt he did what he was good at playing his little part with a good pass or kick every so often not been the out and out play maker which he is trying to be for us and not doing it well at all. because hull had
Richard Swain Richard Horne Danny Brough Stephen Kearney pulling all the strings which let cooke play what he was good at the little things with a good pass. no its been said and we carnt have him but only way cooke would of turned out a good player for us, we we still had brough which we have not but to me we are still crying out for new scrum half to go with bj.

| I was surprised by Cookes performance, when he was with us he generally turned up in the games that mattered to him where he saw it as the big stage. Generally against FC, but the effective relegation decider against Salford springs to mind. There being a focus on him in this game made me think he'd grab the bull by the horns.
The performance yesterday was very reminiscent of a lot his average performances for us, the ones where fans bemoaned Morgan for dictating it all goes through Dobson. Cooke stood out on his own, not in position to recieve the first ball and be able to dictate play and leaving all the pressure on Jeffiries. It smacks to me of a player who for all the talk doesn;t want to take on the game unless it suits, wanting to drift in and out of a game and when the going gets tough just disappear.
I'm afraid Mr Cookes salary is about to take a turn southwards as I unless Wakey give him a contract he could be staring NL1 in the face. I would say teh bottom 2 would want him, but both Crusaders and Salford seem to have options at 6 and 13, no one higher would take a punt on him so maybe it'll be quins or the slippery slope to Thursday nights on Sky.
I'll always be eternally greatful to all our 2007 squad for the effort they put in to stay up but Cookie has really let himself down since then and unless he knuckles down and works hard (which I can't see) his top league presence could be coming to an end.

Maybe all those old "Cooke" shirts in my wardrobe has made me a bit bias.

| Won't be at Wakefield next season.
TBH I couldn't see another SL club touching him and he will price himself out of the championship. Sorry Paul I think your drinks are up at the SL's last chance saloon.

Unfortunately for us, we don't have class players around Cooke to carry him and let him do what he's good at, therefore he looks very average.

Too true. We really do not have the quality - plenty of triers, but no game changers.
