| Quote: RWBA Wakefield Group "Have heard the rumours for months but struggling to see how and why it comes about. That said we have looked comfortable with our position in the league throughout the season with no real concern when we have sat bottom for the majority of that time. In other seasons, Applegarth would have gone a long time ago but the board seem happy to continue as we have with no worries that we look to be doomed to relegation.
That said, Sky money is down again so to share that between 14 teams and not 12 will be an even harder time for some clubs (us included) on how to run the club when costs are going up but income is going down again. There is also the concern that Fev may well win the Championship but have plenty of off the field issues to contend with before making the move upwards.
I feel if we finish bottom then we deserve to go down and it may well be a positive than a negative. Modelling ourselves on a Leigh could well be a good target for us to achieve over the next few years when (or if) we return to the top flight.'"
I agree with the first two paragraphs but, most definitely not the third one.
Going down and hoping to come back stronger is just a myth, to make yourself feel better.
And if we're using Leigh as a shining light and not Bradford or even Toulouse, Leigh went straight down after their first two promotions and have prospered this time by having a SL squad in the Championship.
Will we be able to afford that ?
London cam up and went straight back down, ditto Toulouse, ditto Leigh (twice) and then we have the likes of Bradford.
Even now, we have to find a way to avoid the drop and then IF their is cash available, try and put together a mid table squad and then IF we can manage that, try and build again.

If the takeover goes ahead.... then apparently it's a definite yes.
If it doesn't go ahead.... then it's a definite no !!

| Can't realistically see this being the case, to be honest, especially so late in the season, with no official announcement, and also with the reduced funding.
Having said that, I don't know if anyone watched the game back, on SKY, with our home game V Hull FC, back in, I think May. Both Applegarth & Carter were interviewed before the game, and neither seemed to have the body language that at the time we were about 10 games into the season and winless at that point. It was as if there was no relevance to the outcome of the game, which did seem odd, especially as Hull FC, at that point were also down near the foot of the table. It just put an element of doubt in my mind that they knew something that we didn't.
In all honesty, I do think that we are clutching at straws here.

| There is no way a SL chairman is going to vote to share the reduced Sky money between 14 teams. It is just not going to happen unless Sky say we will give you X amount more to increase the league to 14 and they are not going to do that.

How do you get that?
They have said the only reason the 12 will expand is if they have 13+ A grade teams.
I would put a lot of money on us not being close to that.

| Quote: wrencat1873 "How will "no relegation" work.
For sure, the winner of the Championship GF will expect promotion and rightly so.
Therefore, is there a proposal to increase SL to 13 (or 14) clubs and if so, where is this information.
It sounds like "Chinese whispers" and not a serious comment.
If tere was no relegation, ourselves and Cas could do with knowing, as it makes a huge difference with regard to recruitment.'"
TBF, In 2021 there was a strong application for a 14 team SL put forward to Ken Davey. It was looking positive until it came to the actual vote and Leigh was languishing at the bottom of the table at that time, and heading to the championship, and certain clubs then changed their tune with their vote, and Leigh went down.

| I think there's more chance of us finishing the season in a play off position than there is of there being no relegation this season

An interesting article but, talking of this season and the possibility of no relegation, it's on a par with Trinity making the Grand Final, not a bloody chance.
Of course, SL should be balanced, with no loop fixtures but, there have been many, many opportunities to implement this in the past but, with broadcasting monies falling, the SL clubs simply wouldn't vote to split the cash 14 ways instead of 12.
It sounds like a bloke down the pub telling his mate he's heard something and his mate believing it to be true.

| It’d be the only sane reason why the club have just accepted the way the anniversary season has gone and done nothing to change it.

Exactly, loan deals. Released players, brought players in. New coaching staff additions and investment from sponsors etc. there has been plenty of action taken and it could still be enough … just.
Keep supporting and we will see. Not time to give up yet.
