| Quote: PopTart "For me he was very poor in defence.
He was out of position for at least 3 tries. Not solely his fault but Jowitt would have gone along way to stopping.
His flaw is shown most clearly when Kelly went the length of the field.
I think Ashurst put the ball down right next to Hall, who ran right past the ball on the ground with his hands up. He was still closest when kelly picked it up and started half heartedly chasing. He gave up after 20 steps, with forwards running past him to try and get to Kelly.
Great attacking prowess but no real heart shown in my opinion and he along with Lyne and B Tupou have a way to go to get to the standard set by the team that has been on the winning run.'"
This ^^ It is how I see C. Hall .I would say he is embarrassing in defence .B. Tupou had the worst game I have seen him play last night. Hopefully with players back from injury and suspension we will see a massive difference . If not then I Will be worried.

| [list Quote: Adam_Harrison9 "Cannot believe some of the kop he is taking from this board. I wonder what game some people watch. He was at fault for probably one try when he didn't come for the high ball but everything in attack went through him once again. The only guy apart fro Ashurst that looked like he could break the line and I think he had a hand in all of our tries? Some disgraceful comments about him. Ashurst, Hall and Annakin by far our best players.'"
Agree totally
I do wonder what game some people are watching at times

Perhaps we're watching the whole game and not just the go forward bits. His defence is shocking and his preference is to not take the ball on the full. Lots of people seeing the same thing, so surely must be correct? No doubt about his attack, but he is only half a player and that's far too much of a luxury for us.

| Hall is a good quality superleague player in attack, in fact in terms of talent alone he could be playing at a top 5 club. He is also though a mid-championship standard defender which is why he has often flattered to deceive. Last night he looked a threat everytime he got hold of the ball but defensively he was very suspect and at fullback he is too exposed. He's one of those players that will always be an enigma.

| Wasn't it Johnstone on two occasions fluffed the high ball? Some people only see what they want to see .On watching the game again Anthony Tupou was immense in defence and a threat with his offloads.

| He is the RL equivalent of a glass cannon.
That said, people shouldn't forget his contribution to the winning run with late match winners against Leeds and Widnes alongside key contributions in others like wire.
The left hand edge of Ashurst, Hall and Johnstone with Jowitt chiming in has been great to watch and the sooner we can get that edge fit and firing again the better.
I also think he is an arm round the shoulder sort of guy, so giving him a drill sergeant style "you're crap sort it out" doing won't do him any good.

| 3 missed tackles tells its own story plus Jowitt organises the defensive line in front of him and has good positional sense whereas hall does not.

I do understand what you are saying but some people fail to understand is if his defence was as good as his attack he'd be playing for wigan/wire etc
People's expectations are too high
He is a classic trin style player the positives he brings to the attack out weight his one on one defence issues for me

But not when he is playing fullback, defence first, any attacking benefits are a bonus. Players around the fullback need to have confidence in his defensive abilities (sometimes I'm not sure that CH has confidence in his own abilities in this area) and the fullback needs to have confidence in those around him.

Maybe so, but at least Johnstone went for the ball. Ok he dropped it, I can take that. What I can't take is a player allowing the ball to bounce first which seems to be Halls preference.

| TBH if everyone was fit we wouldn't be having this discussion because Hall would not have played IMO.He got his chance through the lack of players available and I would hope he doesn't feature once we get players back.

I don't think that is the case now because Hall in the centres along with Ashurst does more for Johnson and Wakefield than any other combination. I saw Toupou leave a high ball, drop a high ball and gift Hull KR a try. I saw Lynn miss numerous tackles but yet what is the topic but Hall.
I think he is our best centre, he may not be a full back but at least he will give it a go however when you have several against one because others have missed their tackles there is not a lot any full back can do.
I know the other figure of hate is BJB but once again we noticed his absence on Thursday just like we will do if Hall is not in the team.

Don't think Hall is a figure of hate at all...people just putting their views over . As I said earlier yes B. Tupou had his worst game for us Thurs night but for me what Hall gives in attack he more than takes away in defence and has no intention of putting his body on the line....and this isn't new , i's a consistent aspect of his play.
