In terms of quality, yes it think we are. I'm more than happy with Scruton, England and Simon. I'm not Anderson's biggest fan, mainly because I find him distinctly average at best and I want our overseas players to be better than that. He also went missing at times last season when we really needed someone to stand up. The others I'm not convinced by. We'll have to wait and see with Shulver, but I didn't see anything from Yates or Walker that makes me feel comfortable when the inevitable injuries come round. Crowther I do like, and he can hold his own for the odd game at prop but I personally see him more of a loose forward in the long term. Same with Annakin.

| Yates needs to bulk up to be more effective as prop. Think he's only 15 stone and is about 6ft 2 tall, needs to put on a stone in muscle from gym work. Think it would improve his game.

| Anakin and Simon give us aggression they take the ball up like they mean business and tackle hard. Scruton gives us solidity and he was my player of the year last season. Not seen a great deal of Yates but understand he has great stamina and is tough lad, liked what little I saw of him, great attitude. I am hoping that England will be aggressive and bust a few tackles , again not seen a lot of him so hoping he will make himself undropable. It is reported that Walker had some good games for Scotland and that he will benefit from a pre season as he has missed last few pre seasons with injury, again he has a chance to kick on with us. Don`t know anything about Arona, hope he is a typical Islander. Molloy will not let us down and the lad deserves some luck with injuries, It will be interesting to see Shulver who had a good season in a poor under 19`s team a couple of years ago, nothing fancy but gives 100 %. Anderson needs to prove himself for me, in two years he has never broken a tackle, made an aggressive tackle, won the ground, showed any aggression, had a fight, for me he has simply been soft and gone through the motions. I am hoping that Brian Smith will put some fire in his belly and get him wound up , for me he needs to show that he means business in the pre season games in order to earn his place in any match day squad. I am not saying he can`t be good for us he just needs to man up.

| We let the Scottish International prop go to Bradford...Ben Kavanagh. Although he was only on loan from Widnes.
Anthony Walker plays prop for Wales.

Nick Scruton

Anthony Walker
Andy Yates

Back rowers who can play/cover prop

Jonny Molloy

That's 10 players who can cover the props positions, albeit I think some are better in the back row. I don't think that's too bad'"
Exactly, the levels of delusion on this forum is reaching new levels.
Who is this magic club who have ten SL standard props let alone internationals?
You go past the starting four at even the top clubs and it starts to thin a bit.
Whether you think our props are good enough is a matter of opinion but we have more than enough of them and the right mix.
Starting 4
Nick Scruton
Anthony England
Scott Anderson
Mikael Simon (he's not a S/R he's a French International prop (not sure the French bit helps much)
Up and coming for competition
Anthony Walker
Andy Yates
Youth
Ben Shulver
Cover in a crisis
Tinirau Arona
Jonny Molloy
Chris Annakin
Jordan Crowther
What more do people expect. We could have 8 International props but the rest of the team would have to play for free.
Lets get realistic.

I really couldn't disagree more about Anderson.
He is often our strongest tackler and rarely makes mistakes or give penalties away.
He doesn't bust tackles but he takes the ball often and can do long minutes if needed.
Leigh away springs to mind. I thought he was the best forward on the field.
His fault for me is injuries as he hasn't had many but each one has been a big one.

I'm glad it's not just me then!
I do think the second half of last season was not his best, but I think injury, and in particular the horrific head injury at Newcastle, played a part in that. He's fit and raring to go, as they all are!

I don't think you and PT get it TRB - it's Anderson's turn for a bashing!
He's a good, solid, hardworking prop who has all the qualities out lined in the last two posts but it seems somebody has to get slagged off on here and he will just have to grin and bear it until some other player becomes the 'flavour of the month!'

| Do not know what the fascination with the size of props is.
One of the best props we have had in the SL era was 5ft 10 and around 16 stone 3.

I think he will be referring to James Stosic (Sausage). Also one of my favourite props we have had in the SL era.

Is 'Bulking up With Muscle' from the same sports science discipline as the 'Running a Long Way' programme?
It's great that so many experts are prepared to contribute their well structured ideas to improving the team and the individuals within it; I bet BS haunts this place now - makes his job so much easier.
