They would still be interested if it was Trinity, I was. Are kids so stupid these days they can only follow something if it has a nice fluffy animal as the name. If so how do Hull FC cope, or St Helens or Manchester Utd. The thing is anything can be marketed, anything at all. In Trinity the club had a unique name and a world famous one. The Wildcats tag was a lazy and unnecessary addition.

I'm dismissive as the name Trinity has been lost to a generation and is likely to be lost forever.

We were all young once you know, and Trinity was good enough for us to get excited about, i know everyones different but sometimes i thing people forget it was only introduced as a marketing tool in SL, where over all (probably the Bulls aside) it hasn't really worked any better than the clubs previous names.
Are you allowed, to even shudder near a kid in these PC gone mad days!?!?!?!?!

But times move on and like it or not kids are more attracted by the "Wildcats" name. I know it is only marketing, but we now live in a world where it seems almost everything is marketed!
BTW, the reference to "shuddering" near a kid is nothing to do with "PC" (I never said it was!), but more the condescending approach KK seemed (to me) to be taking to kids using "Wildcats"!

Might be something to do with the success of the team (FC excepted) and , dare I say it, in the case of MUFC, the succesful marketing of the club both in the UK & overseas.
In the case of MUFC they had a geniune world famous name in a worldwide sport. We have a name that was famous in a sport played by a limited number of countries.

Only if you've consulted all the stakeholders, undergone an enhanced CRB check and arranged supervision by a fully qualified shuddering compliance officer from the Local Authority.
Given all of the above - shudder away!

| 'Trinity' is [itradition only[/i for most. Most of us aren't religious and three long names is far too many, if anything Trinity seems a more puny prospect than Wildcats. 'Trinity Stadium' or 'Trinity stand' at the new stadium will do for me.

Absolutely agree, time has moved on, imagine how powerful an image Trinity would have been now if they had marketing back in the 60's.
I was only attempting humour with the "shuddering" you must have missed it, don't worry about KK he's just grumpy because he's getting old like the rest of us, can you imagine playing football in front of his house!!!!!!!!!

| Evolving doesn't mean we have to lose all the valuable stuff
Humans wouldn't rule the world if we developed an extra finger and lost the opposable thumb!
Wakefield don't have to lose Trinity to evolve. They need a name that can be marketed. One of the biggest marketing draw cards for Wakefield is the history.......Trinity and Wildcats can live in the same club as far as I am concerned.
Wakefield Trinity is the name
Wildcats is the nickname

| It's a point I raised at the fans forum and was told by AG that the clubs name was Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and would remain so.
I later raised the point again with James Elston as a WTST issue and again James was adamant that 'Trinity' was not being sidelined.
I would like to see a little more thought put in to the use of the name on press releases and networking sites as what the clubs saying and what they're doing are at odds with each other.
