A good article, to the point. I've emailed both the RFL and the YEP to ask if a response is to be given/asked for.

Whilst clubs are unable to legally challenge SL over decisions such as these (As I understand it by their own operational rules), I find it hard to accept that any club who would stand to lose out would accept the implications of this and not at least raise it with the RFL beforehand. I can see why they made the announcement to appease fans of teams who wish to join, but they've created a problem they didn't need to which opens a window to complaint before the process is properly underway.

As for who'd lose out, it may refer directly to us and Cas in Yorkshire, but a loss of either of us for a non-Yorkshire team bears some thought for other teams in the area. I'd include Shudds in that too, as if it were us who lost out, it'd cost them 4-6 points, +100 points difference and a player or two every season.

I take Bloomer's point that clubs may not be able to challenge SL decisions but this is about procedure - is SL following its own procedures or not? If not then clubs that may be effected should play hell.
Actually - I think [uall[/u the clubs should play hell because it damages the integrity of the game. But then again . . . .!!

Unfortunately a waste of time, since when did the RFL every bother what the fans thought .
