Hickey was bad, I'll give you that but he did not cost much and made little difference to a poor side.

HOWEVER the worst player of the SL era has got to be side show bob. We waited well over half a season in high expectation for his arrival and the only thing he did of note was to loose us a cup semi final. When you consider the clown lost us an appearance at Wembley and everything that goes with it, he has to be the worst signing by far.

We did have a player worse than Hicky, although his price tag will have been lower, a certain Charlie Leano.
He was big but...……………………………….

Quote: Fishermanscap "Hickey, the ultimate Coach killer. Just goes to show that even someone as experienced as JK can fall for it. Didn’t matter how obvious his failings were Kear persisted, desperate to be proved right and those wretched fans wrong.

I honestly believe Hickey single handedly took the shine off what would have been legend status for Kear at Trinity. I worry that CC has the same blind spot for Brough, though by comparison Broughy is a god.

Hickey easily, at least the others had excuses and in most cases at least tried.'"

I'm pretty sure Hickey does not register anywhere on Kear's "legendary" CV.
On the recent poll, Kear won the coaches vote by a landslide and I'm fairly certain the BBC never mention Hickey when they are praising Kear for his cup exploits.
He saved us from extinction in my opinion. That won't be taken away by one cheap player who wasn't as good as some fans wanted him to be.

I agree, but what’s all that got to do with what I posted?

To simplify, even great coaches have blind spots and this one was Kears, he persisted with this player long after he should have. Kear for me is a legend but that was the season Hickey along with Tommy Lee tested some fans loyalty to the man. This is what occurred I don’t see why it bothers you so much, nobody pleases all the people all the time, not in the world I live in.

It doesn't bother me. I just commented on your post to say I don't agree.
I quoted your point to make it easier to follow.

Further to my original point about PP - he was out in Wakey on Saturday night, off his melon, as per.

If he's not injured, then what exactly is he for?

EVENTUALLY, WE'LL WIN SOMETHING, ,MAYBE, IF I'M STILL ALIVE THEN:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_31007.jpg

I don't remember JK persisting with Hickey that long at all. I remember him being a pudding but I don't remember him being a regular.

As for Pauli Pauli, I presume he's been told his time at Wakey is done and is just seeing out his contractual payments. If he's not playing and won't play again this year, fine, get leathered, but he's a poor show for a professional sportsman. He's been blessed with the physical attributes to be a great rugby player. Unfortunately, not the mental ones. A substandard Dave Taylor.

They did indeed, didn't stop him from running over 5 Salford players in his first drive though.

He only played 8 games for us, scoring 2 tries in that time. He was far from a regular, except maybe at Pizza Hut.

I remember one of Hickey’s tried, London away. He got the ball from dummy half and literally just flopped over. It would’ve been funny were we not being thrashed at the time.

All that for 8 games.
