could we incorporate an extra head somewhere on the badge ?
only joking!

| With quite a few people saying they would be happy with a merger and that's the only way to compete each season,so do those people think that Trinity will not be success or at least the chance of it if we get the stadium built and move, because personally i think the stadium is the only thing holding us back and once we move the crowds will come and the team will improve.

| From the point of view of the fans flooding back, I think the stadium is a bit of a pink elephant, supporter apathy and the club, taking us for granted are the main reasons.
I would like to think that a well run well supported Wakefield trinity could be a success, but we have neither and as time goes on, we will eventually be manipulated into a merger I'm sure.
Unless cas' go t*** up!!
And inspite of peoples best intentions towards both cas' and fev' if they were to be involved, we are all in Wakefield and that name should live on followed by whatever you like!!!

The real benefit at Newmarket over Glasshoughten is the location. I know technically it’s in Wakefield but at approx. 4m away from each centre its equidistant. I know Cas have outline PP but Newmarket has the funding which is not transferable to any other site, merely because of the surrounding development.'"
It depends what location benefit you're talking about though, Glasshoughton is arguably the best commercial site for a stadium in the UK... it would increase attendances massively and has very good access by road and rail.
EDIT: I should read the whole thread first mind

| Lets face it when two teams merge, it usually means the end for one of them at that level. For example Huddersfield / Sheffield, Gateshead /Hull. I know people are talking about a new name, but is it realistic that the wakey / cas fans could support one team. When most of them struggle to be civil to one another about their teams at the moment ?

| I think that people would come regardless of prior loyalties if the team were successful, playing attractive rugby in a decent stadium. Nobody (especially kids enjoys going to see their team getting soundly beaten every other weekend), which seems to be the norm at the minute.
As someone mentioned earlier we have a great tradition of RL in the area and produce a lot of promising youngsters who we invariably lose to the bigger clubs.
The economic reality in the short to medium term is that if the area is to have a team capable of challenging the bigger clubs merger is the most viable option. It's probably something that will be forced upon us as I could not envisage the owners/management of Wakey & Cas willingly persuing the idea. The worst case scenario is both clubs fail to get a license and interest in the sport at a grass roots area dwindles.

| Did a quick shirt on Photoshop the other day, white with an amber and red V, looked good and is a mix of colours, or there could be the Wests route from this year and have 4 kits (2 Tigers 2 Magpies for them). I'll make another now seems I didn't save it

Finacial benefits are misleading. I know all those pubs, bars, shops and attractions are up at Xscape but they are not owned by the club. Supporters will use them go and watch the game and back into them.
Newmarket will not have the same attractions so supporters will go inside the stadium and spend their money.
Also to add to the above
Newmarket to Wakey bus station 3.5 miles
Newmarket to Cas bus station 4.5 miles.

| Neutral colours and the area coat of arms included in a shirt
Not one of the fashion police, but it's recognisable

| Quote: steadygetyerboots-on "As soon as wakey announced the location of Newmarket Lane I warned both Cas and wakey fans that a merger would come and I still don't see anything to make me think it wont happen. As I have resigned myself to this I have mused over the prospect for quite a while and I think the majority of people, myself included, could follow a merged team under the following conditionswhole area to blossom and engender a lost sense of pride and community which has otherwise been consigned to the rubbish tip by successive Tory and (more shamefully in my opinion) Labour governments. Apologies I digress!
If these three points were applied, more importantly point 1, then I, as gut wrenching as it would be, could support a merged team with the pride and passion with which I have followed Castleford Tigers.
You may have noticed that I have left Featherstone Rovers out of the equation, this is purely as the thread appears to me to be talking about Cas and wakey only. They could easily be placed into the equation I have outlined above with little or no problem should they choose to.'"
thats the excat weay i see it apart from the shirts which we could both keep our home shirt colours and play alterrnagtive (not home and away) this would at least keep some of the more angry fans happy

| I hope none of this will ever happen! You should all be ashamed
Realistically though if a Franchise for both our clubs rested on something such as a merger, I would most likely lose interest in the sport, I couldn't bare to say goodbye to Wakefield Trinity, the history and everything the club means to me as a supporter in favour of a Merged team.
The only Silver Lining would be Albert Rosenfeld/Allices Phallus (or whatever other guise he once had / has) would be let out of the Mental Hospital!
