I take an interest in these 'new' stadia from an economics point of view. The less outlandish designs seem to move forward quicker and I sometimes wonder whether these concept drawings are used to keep people sweet as there is actually very little in terms of actual movement forward.

I refer to St Helens and Salford stadia where Saints chose to build a Saints ground and it appears to me moving forward whereas Salfords with its Learning Centre and Hotel is now haemorrhaging these follies.

There was a nightclub (Baralona's which is now a JJB gym) on the trading estate at Birstall. They had free buses from Huddersfield and Leeds but it just didn't work as people didn't want to sit on a bus for an hour wasting valuable 2 for 1 time.

In reference to a post above on the values of the land sold - BV was sold with planning permission for Housing whereas I cannot find any planning permission on WR at present. Housing granted land is still worth more than commercial so size of plot may be irrelevant.

WR has not got any planning permission, its not even zoned for housing but it will be in the not too distant future.

I can't believe its been sold to a developer. He may have an option at an agreed price subject to planning and may have paid a deposit. He may even have entered into a contract to purchase but contracts are not binding. He will be able to pull out or seek a renegotiation of the price. If he pulls out he will probably lose the option fee or deposit but he cannot be made to buy the land if he does not want to.

I wish more fans from both sides of the common had this attitude.

I hope Cas get a new stadium and I hope we get one as well, I don't subscribe to the theory that one will set the other back, but that seems to be what some believe, hence the jabs on both sides!

The problem is the franchise system. Some people subscribe to the theory
that if Superleague is to expand then the number of teams in the heartlands need to be rationalised to make room for new expansion teams.
People fear that one day Cas or Wakey may be culled 'for the good of the game'. Therefore the supporters of each club may feel it beneficial to have an advantage over their near neighbour in order to ensure their survival.

I agree but it might be too much for some on both sides though which is a shame.

actually long term i think the biggest disaster for either club could be getting a stadium that bankrupts them!

but for now one for us and one for our stripey friends please.

Hopefully it will not bankrupt us or yourselves should we both get them.
