When you say you believe the decision to leave was his, is that your opinion or taproom gossip or do you know for certain or more likely a guess, It's either his or the clubs decision my guess is you flipped a coin and made it all up.

Got a bit mixed. I thought Scarlett was on about Westwood.

That’s just it in a nutshell, very few people ever really know why players and coaches do what they do, there are always two sides.
Also people have this odd idea that all players are the same and they aren’t. They mirror society and come in all personality types.
Some very much are the noble yet humble warrior type. Others are complete knobs and everything in in-between and being able to throw a rugby ball around won’t change that.
From this mix of flawed human being a club has to forge a team of highly motivated and well drilled players.
Anybody think that sounds easy? I don’t.

| For me the letting a player go and missing out only apply if they wanted to stay.
Hunte is a good example of a Wakefield lad being successful elsewhere but he was never really ours.
Of the youngsters that cause a fuss when we don't keep them on, I can't remember anyone that proved the coach wrong.

Slightly O/T but I worked with his dad at that time and he used to lend me his players card to get in away games for free. We were like twins
Michael Hunte, Alan's dad had the makings of a very good winger, way back - probably late 60s? I think injury ended his career.

He didn't just walk away from Wakefield offered him a shockingly poor deal too be full time and he rightly turned it down too gain first team experience with Doncaster who offered him a better deal.He never requested too not come back on against Leeds and did in fact come back on at Centre due too a injury. So I don't know where you've got your info from.

Much as I hate to defend Scarlet I think he’s talking about Westwood.
As for a shockingly low offer then there we have the answer and it shows how ridiculous posters like you are.
Shockingly low in who’s opinion? So a club offers a player a way into SL but he starts on an apprentice wage, wow what’s new about that. Player can’t be bothered to wait takes easy money at a nowhere club kidding himself that he will get noticed.
He won’t stay with us because his attitude is all wrong for a club like Wakefield because it’s all money. It may be a short career but you can’t expect the money until you’ve done the time.
If this is true and I have no idea if it is then I have little sympathy and I fully expect the player will never grace SL. Still it’s his prerogative and if he proves me wrong best of luck to him, he’s made his bed.
I do have sympathy for players like Ollie Greensmith even if from the coaches point of views Hall is a better option. In his case I genuinely hope he proves his worth.

In terms of Doncaster offered a better deal, We offered a part time reserves contract leading to a 1st team deal should he prove he deserves it. They offered a part time League 1 contract plus an extra £1000 on top of what we offered

The deal was knowhere near what other academy players were offered and was given a better offer by Doncaster with more guarantee of open age rugby. And how can you say the player will never grace super league when there career has just started end of day the player took the better offer in terms of development and money so how can you blame them.

Plus appearance bonuses so how can anyone blame the player for wanting too develop more and earn better money?

The deal was knowhere near what other players were offered and Wakefield were taking ages drawing up contracts making the player wait until after pre season had started so how has Ruan not waited for the club? How do you know what other Academy players were offered, you’ll clearly believe whatever anyone tells you. A player is worth only what a club will pay them, if Trinity are the only SL club interested then he’s worth only what they are willing to pay, basic supply and demand.
Wakefield has a reputation as a launching pad for great careers, tell me Doncaster’s last super star.
If you truly rate yourself as a player you want a chance in the top division as soon as possible, if nothing else it’s a shop window.
A lot of great players have started at Wakefield on very low wages and within a few years are on big bucks, weather that be at Wakefield or elsewhere.
If you know this player then talk him around because he’s made a huge error in my opinion, it may seem a lot of money now but it’s nothing long term.
Put simply he’s made gaining a full time SL deal ten times more difficult. You get noticed at Trinity, you rarely do at Donny. Let’s hope he’s as good as you think because he will need to play every game and be MOM in most of them to get back into SL. If he doesn’t the contract he now won’t improve dramatically for the rest of his career. Sorry but I’ve seen it so many times before.
Having said that I still wish him well and if he’s in SL in a few years then well done him. I’m all for second chances and backing yourself but as I say the cards are now stacked.
